Great info on the lock actuators! I will check into that. I really wish we could make the trip to Gatlinburg, but we already have a trip planned to Jekyll Island next weekend.
I pulled the prodigy from the wife's truck today and installed it on the Excursion. I am also leaning toward doing the airbags with pump and controller. I had this system on my 04 F250 and it was very trick.

Chad, I did the aluminum foil trick with my X first thing. Works awesome and very easy to do. Also installed the RAS suspension system, man what a difference. Have 120K on mine and love it. You may have to do some tweaking but the X is a great TV. Good luck, John

I just got in from my first test run. It really pulled great, but I am wandering if I need to adjust my Equalizer. The dealer setup the hitch on my wife's expedition and the trailer was slightly "nose up" when hitched. The receiver hitch on the X is actually a little lower and now the trailer is almost perfectly level. I will have to check with Equalizer and see what needs to be done. Prodigy plugged right in and worked perfect, as always. To be honest, I know the suspension on the rear of the X is soft, but it is hardly noteable with my current trailer. I am sure it is due to the light tongue weight.
I have never owned ANY vehicle with 100K miles. I doubt I will put that many miles on this one since it will be a tow vehicle only, but I sure hope it gives me a few thousand trouble free towing miles.

Chad,
Congrats on the new to you Ex and welcome to the small family of Ex owners!
For the 3.73...I found when I had those behind my V10...she liked 3rd gear much better than OD. I could set the cruise at 63 or so in 3rd and she would simply pull and pull with out a downshift...
My 9000# TT and areas I travel to (Rockies) had me wanting deeper gearing...and the 4.30's mate up perfectly to the power band of the V10 and allow me to now tow mostly in OD in all but the hilliest of terrain...but the 3.73's got me thru the Black Hills, Big Horns and Rockies tugging our previous 7500# 27' TT...so I KNOW they are a strong gear for this V10 too!
I'm posting to comment on your last post...your TT's attitude.
Preferred attitude is level and if that can't be achieved...nose DOWN is next preferred.
CLICK HERE for the Equal-i-zer video. The last clickable thumbnail is INSTALLATION...for your reference...but the customer service at Progress Mfg is also excellent.
Again...congrats on the new to you Ex and let us know if you have any questions on setting things up. A few of us have done some research on the Ex over the last few years and are always willing to share.
MarkMoore,
THANK YOU for the kind words above.
Joe.

Thanks Joe. On my test drive I did feel like 3rd gear 65mph ~2500rpms was the sweet spot. I am heading out Thursday for a 136 mile camping trip to jekyll island. One question I do have, is on the auto locking hubs. The writing is worn off and I wasn't sure which way was auto and lock? I "think" counterclockwise is auto, but I wasn't sure. Can someone tell me for sure?
I took some photos today of both the X and my TT. I will post them soon.
thanks
Chad

Chad... beautiful setup.
On the hubs I always forget, but the best way to find out is turn them one way, then reach behind and see if you can turn the front drive shaft, then turn them the other way and check again. Which ever way you can turn the drive shaft is the auto feature; If you cannot turn the drive shaft, you're locked in.
Also - my the knob for my hubs gets mucked up about 2 times a year, all you have to is spray it with a little WD40 or Lithum Grease (my preference).
Too bad you can't make it to G'burg; but I'll be interested to hear about Jeckyll Island - it's on my 'wanna go' list.

Chad,
I just checked my hubs...YES...counter clockwise is AUTO on mine.
The hubs can be problematic...so if you haven't...make sure yours lock and unlock properly. The vacuum activated system can be iffy. I engage mine more than a handful times per year to keep things free flowing...generally in campgrounds on gravel roads in the summers and whenever there is snow in the winter...it is good practice IMO to do so this way it will lock and unlock when you are in need as opposed to having to utilize the manual locking feature when you are stuck in a mud hole!
Nice looking setup...once you get it all hitched up take a picture for us to.
Oops...Mark was typing while I was checking my Ex...his way is good advice too!
Good luck,
joe.
