Went to CW and bought some "Orange" scented "Formaldehyde-Free," "Earth-1st," "Go-Green," "Enviro-Friendly" blah blah blah.... black tank GARBAGE!

What a joke. The temperature go to about 91F. Our holding tank is 56 gallons. On our second day, the smell was very bad. It's never that way with the blue colored formaldehyde chemicals.

This orange garbage (as I call it) didn't even work when I put in two more packets. The instructions said one packet would control up to 40 gallons in the black tank. I initially placed two packets in the tank with about 4 gallons of fresh water before a few hours before we arrived at camp.

I'll never use that "enviro-friendly" junk again. I'm sticking to the "ethyl-methyl-bad-stuff" chemicals. That stuff works.

I don't care if I'm not "going green." I prefer to stay "blue!"

...There, I'm off my rant.

You are not the first person I have heard this "rant" from! I too use the blue per many recommendations of RV friends!

I've been using the formaldahyde free stuff for a few years, but the older formaldahyde stuff works far better! If I can find it again I'll buy it!

When I bought my 2007 trailer new (my second trailer), the starter kit came with a bag of the formaldahyde free junk with 10 packets in it. Tried it and had to use 4 packets on my first trip and only filled the black tank half full (20 gallons) before returning home. On my second trip I dumped in the other 6 at one time to use them up. Then went back to using the blue formaldahyde liquid I had bought for my old TT and my pop up porta-potty.

Have used the "Geo" method (Galgon & Detergent) since TT was purchased a year ago. No chemicals. No smell.

Liquid Gold brand (sold at Wal-Mart and others) is formaldahyde free. It is the "blue" stuff and works great and isn't as expensive as the stuff that proclaims in big bold letters about how environmentally safe it is.

Ditto. GEO method and plenty of water and we've had no odors at all, even on the hottest/most humid days.

Thanks Adam-12,
I just bought a 6 pack of the Orange flavored stuff from my local RV dealer. No wonder it was on sale! Haven't used it yet, but I guess I better pick up some of the old reliable blue stuff, just in case.
Maybe I can put the Orange stuff on eBay, people will buy anything there.

Formaldehyde is BAD - for any septic system/dump station. Have not/willnomt try that "orange" stuff but have used enviro-chem for the last 7 years and never had any odor/pile-up problems. Please -folks there are effective formaldehyde-free products out there.

PS - also bad inside trailers!!
