25% better mileage than a gasser!!!!

25% of 18 mpg is 4.5 mpg. Not enough improvement for me to pay the price of diesel.

They need to think 4 or 6 cylinder diesel with less power and better mileage. 310 HP and 520 TQ isn't much less than big diesels.

It's a HALF TON for pity sakes!!!

I agree, it's WAY over powered. Should have been a 4 or a 6 from the start of design. I realize they didn't plan on 5 buck a gallon diesel, but the 2500+ trucks already existed for heavy towing with 300+ HP. Frankly, I never got the logic of this truck.

I love my current duramax but I wouldnt even think of one of these till after the first 2 years of production, way too many new concepts being tried here. Someone else can be the discouraged guinea pig sitting in the dealership service dept waiting room.

The public seems to be hypnotized by power on this side of the Atlantic, and our manufacturers have been trying to meet that hypnotic desire.

My old 1996 F250 diesel has only 215hp and 425ft-lbs. It gets 21 mpg at 70 solo and 15 mpg at 60 pulling 6000 lbs of travel trailer from coast-to-coast. And I should want more power?

Of course, if I wanted to pull 12,000 lbs, then I'd have no choice. But does every 1/2-ton pickup owner want to pull that?

At today's fuel prices, it takes just a 2 mpg improvement to break even with a gasser. The additional improvement would help offset the upcharge difference.

I agree, a 1/2 ton doesn't need that much power unless they beef up the chassis and suspension so all that power can be used. But then, why would they need a 3/4 ton?

Dodge has the right idea by offering a V6 as well as a V8. The only way I'd buy a Dodge is if they make HUGE improvements to the interior and chassis.
