what is the weather normally like at FDR state park in mid or late September? We would like to get away from the florida heat for a week. Thanks

By coming to Ga U won't be getting much cooler. The temperature will depend on the year. Some years we're wet in Sept. but nothing is guaranteed. I live w/in 60 miles of FDR state park.

September is still warm, but if you wait until the end of September it will probably be tolerable...October is nice..FDR is a great park !! Make sure you go to Dowdell's Knob and the Little White House...we loved it. Almost had a mountainous feel even though it isn't North Georgia.

I would go on up to the Georgia mountains. DW and I were camping at Fort Mountain and Cloudland Canyon State Parks in early June. The temperature at those parks was very comfortable. We were there for 10 days and I don't believe it ever got over 85 for a high. We had a campfire several evenings. Mid September should be about the same or a couple degrees cooler.

I agree. September is not quiet late enough for it to be much cooler there. I live about 70 miles from there also and it probably will be in the low 90's during the day. To get much cooler as others have said go to the N. Ga mountains or even Gattlinburg.
