I have a Dual Cam High Performance Sway Control that was installed at the dealer and the dealer was not as percise as I would be and now I need to make a small adjustment.

I need to know what size the BIG nuts are on the Cam Arm that holds the arm and adjusts the arm in the Cam Arm Yoke.

Thanks,
J

1 3/8" goes on really hard. 1 7/16" fits a little lose. Large crescent wrench fits perfect.

Let me guess. You are going to attempt to squre up the trunion so the spring bar rides flat on it. I noticed the trunion shafts are keyed so they can`t rotate, but mine are not sqare to the bracket and, consequently, the spring bar. I`m not so worried about the spring bar as I am the keeper plate on the end of the chain. When the trunion isn`t perpendicular to the keeper, the keeper side loads the connection pin instead of putting it in shear. I`m afraid It`ll eventually bend or snap off the keeper pin. Anybody else worried about this or is it normal?

My big pipe wrench did a good job, but a crescent won't make as much of a mark.

I used an adjustable wrench, no worries.

Mosseater,
I have that same problem with the left side if your standing at the front looking back. I looked at mine and discovered that when they keywayed it at the factory, the cutter was shot and walked off center a good .06. I opened the keyway that was off, and it is better. The cam now has rub marks nearly the entire width from the spring bar. I am going to adjust it one more time and I think it will be good.

Sorry, jcramin I did not mean to hi-jack your thread but I thought I was the only one that has this problem.

Is there any room for fudging on the keyway? I have a feeling it`s pretty acurate if it`s like a normal keyway. Did you file it or broach it? I haven`t loosened mine to look at it.I`m not off much, but it is noticeable. And, it`s digging a hole in the outside edge of each trunion. Is my work never done?!

I used an end mill and a bridgeport milling machine and I cut only the side that is against the key in the bracket. The reason the cam fit into the bracket with the keyway off center is the clearance between the od of the threaded rod and the id of the bracket. The keyways actually have about .03 slop in them, and with the od/id clearance you can pivot the cam to fit into both keyways at the same time. I think I am going to take about .025 more out of the keyway and then I should be level. You're right---is the work ever done.

Hmmm....I made a wrench out of some 1/2" stock, flame cut the jaws and fine tuned them with an angle grinder. IIRR it's 1-1/2".
