We will be heading to Twin Mountain, NH on Saturday July 26 and would appreciate help with our directions through Montreal. We will be coming from Ontario with the following directions:

401 East to 20 East to 15 South/20 East to 10 East to 55 South

We should be getting through Montreal in the early afternoon on Saturday. Are these directions correct? Is there a better route? We have a fifth wheel that is 13 feet tall.

Thanks for your assistance!

You could not have picked a better route.
Go for it.

Exactly. Traffic on a Saturday afternoon should be quite fluid also.

Greetings: Your potential delay will be at the US Border in Derby Line, Vt. On a Saturday afternoon it will be busy. LOTS of vacation travelers this time of year. There are 2 Customs Ports of Entry in Derby Line you can choose from. The one on I-91, where Canadian Rt.55 ends is the largest and by far busiest as it gets all the Montreal traffic. An alternative is the Rt.5 Port of entry in downtown Derby Line. You get off Rt. 55 in Stanstead, before going to the I-91 and go through Rock Island before entering the US in Derby Line on Rt. 5. It is mostly local traffic and much less used. From there it's down I-91 to I-93 in St. Johnsbury over to NH. Twin Mtn isn't far.
Regards. FB in Vt.

Not me. Montreal traffic is easier than the QEW in an RV.

Our son went to McGill, so we visited Montreal quite often. We joked that the trip was about six hours; five hours to get across Toronto from our Mississauga home, and one hour for the rest!

We're leaving Oakville early enough in the morning that traffic won't be an issue. We're tired of making a large donation to NY state for the 4H toll on the interstate so we will drive for free in Ontario! Diesel might cost more but we'll help our fellow Canadians and keep our tax money in Canada!

Fixedblade - thanks for the border crossing tip. We'll check out the alternate crossing point.
