We are new to this site... We bought a 07 311bhs keystone sprinter that is parked at a private campground.. We upgraded big time from a pop up ... don't miss those days.
My question is that when i look up the towing weights for the keystone i keep getting different amounts .
I need to know whether the 97 suburban can pull the keystone for a vacation in Sept. of this year .
Any help out there would be appreciated .

Probably should have checked this out before you bought it. But anyway you need to post the numbers of the TT, we need the dry weight. It should be on a label inside one of the cabinet doors or it will be on the outside, drivers side down low. Then you need to determine the GCWR of your TV. You will exceed this number before the tow rating. The last thing you need to do is weigh your TV. The GCWR is the most your trailer and TV can weigh combined, with all cargo, passengers and a full tank of fuel. Get these numbers and get back to us. If this TT has been sitting for a long time you will need to do some maintenance before you can tow it. Chances are the tires are dry rotted and flat spotted, I am sure the bearings need cleaning and repacking, as well as the brakes need to be inspected and adjusted.

Forget looking at listed weights for the Keystone. I would suggest towing it over to a scale and weighing it with everything inside that you normally take on a trip. Then you will know exactly how much it weighs
For the 'Burb, there are so many configurations it is hard to determine what it can tow.
I have a '99 3/4 ton Burb with the 7.4L engine and 3.73 gears. The listed towing capacity is 8,000 lbs. I've towed a 7,500 lb. boat with it (the 'Burb was empty except for me). It handles my 6,000 lb fully-laoded (yes, I've weighed it) very well. If my 'Burb had the 4.10 gears, it would tow 10,000 lbs.
A 1/2 ton 'Burb with a 5.7L engine and inadequate rear end gearing wouldn't be up to the task to tow either the boat or my TT.

Dry weight is some hypothetical number that happens before the trailer is fitted with options. It should be on a label inside one of the cabinet doors or it will be on the outside, drivers side down low. Then you need to determine the GCWR of your TV. You will exceed this number before the tow rating. No, you can't exceed this value. The last thing you need to do is weigh your TV. Sorry but you need to know the actual weight of the trailer and the actual weight of the tow vehicle as they will be loaded for the trip. As Hornet said you can't exceed the gross combined weight rating GCWR, and you also should watch the TV rear axle rating (RAWR), which is affected by the tongue weight.
My guess is the Sub might not be enough unless it's a Suburban 2500.

I'm interested in following this one...
Have a 2001 Suburban; owners manual is for Tahoe/Suburban; have 4.10 axle, it says we can pull 8k+...but not max total weight.
My Silverado manual tells me max trailer weight and max total weight.
The GF wants to tow our TT (Keystone Outback) @ 6k dry with the Suburban but I'd rather pull it with the Silverado.

As far as I can tell, the op just wants to know if the burb will pull it. How do you know he don't have a one ton dually as an alternate tv. The "should of checked this out" comment is uncalled for.
Ya the reply of should have checked this out first really sucks ! The trailer was used 2 times from a friend ... it's very new ...tires and all. The friend towed it out for us with his truck.
Anyway what I have found out on the trailer is that there are 2 weights .. which Im confused on ... shipping weight and carrying capacity.. Shipping is 8140 and capacity is3045 .
The suburban is a 1500 not sure if its a 1/2 ton or more . I will find out . The reason I ask is that it comes with a new motor and engine with warranty for only 4,000 obo . The body is in great shape , tires etc. will have my mechanic check out more in the am.
So I will continue to check out whether it can tow this puppy or not .. Thanks for all the help .
I found out more info on the suburban if this helps .GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT RATING (LBS) 7,300, CURB WEIGHT (LBS) 5,293, GROSS TRAILER WEIGHT BRAKED (LBS) 6,000, GROSS TRAILER WEIGHT UNBRAKED (LBS) 1,000, FRONT AXLE WEIGHT (LBS) 3,600, REAR AXLE WEIGHT (LBS) 4,000, MAX PAYLOAD (LBS) 2,007 AND MAX TONGUE LOAD (LBS) 750
