In our camper, it is just my wife and I and two dogs which each weigh as much as a bowling ball. We barely have room to move around, and the bunk is used for storage. We have actually replaced the original dinette table with a smaller one to make more room. I'm glad we don't have to convert the dinette every night.
My wife and I were talking about it this weekend and we thought that if we had kids, we might have to find a Class C with a dedicated bedroom and a dinette.
How do you folks with kids find the space and more importantly, the patience? I can put our pups in crates when we need them out of the way, but my understanding is that baby cages don't go over too well with Social Services.
We have a BF that can be tight with 2 young boys. We spend most of our time outside and use the camper for sleeping and eating. We also bring 2 pugs on most of our trips. The dogs cause me way more grief then the boys ever will. For trips when they want to bring friends we have a 17ft BF trailer that we tow behind our camper.
Well, it's never really been a problem with us. That's the Wife, an 8 yr old, a 6 yr old & last but not least, the 18 mo old. For the most part, the kids and myself are out side until bedtime.
It's the kids that get sleepy 1st, then the Wife & I stay a while out at night before we get to bed. I guess the key is to keep them busy outside.
We are only in it to sleep. I had the DW keep track of how much time we spent in the TT. We were never in it. That's how I got my camper. My boys are still small enough to sleep on the dinette and when they get older they will be tenting it. Of course I live in the N.W. and I haven't had to stay in the camper for two days with the whole family while we watch it rain. But that day is coming.

oh! are we suppose to bring the kids?
really as some previous post when we had a tt we used it mainly for sleeping and the kids played all day. when they went to bed the DW and I had quite time ,didn't seem much of a problem to us. I think the main thing here was the idea of us getting away from work and everyday chores back home..jmho
Our two kids were grown and gone before we went the TC route but we did have a small Class C when they were still with us and it worked ok. As has been mentioned we also didn't spend much time actually in the camper. It was spent out 4wheeling and then hanging around the campfire with friends.

At this point in time our life revolves around our kids. My wife and I were married 13 years before we decided to have kids. We now have an 8yr boy and a 3yr girl.
Both kids love to camp and we seem to do just fine with the four of us and a GSD in out 33'TT.
I will say that after about a week I'm ready to trade the 300sf for the 3000sf.
We converted our overhead bed to sleep four with extra foam and such. The kids are still small enough to sleep on the hamper areas next to each window. Wife likes that our dinette stays a dinette for the morning coffee and breakfast. And when momma's happy....
Well we have fours kids (5, 11, 13 & 17) one border collie and the wife and I. We all fit in the front of the truck with the exception of the dog (she rides in the back where she can look out the windows - have thought of bringing her kennel along but she loves looking out windows).
When we set up camp the first thing we do is tie up the dog and the first thing up is the screen tent so that the 5 year old can go and play, then in goes the lawn chairs. Then we set up a tent for me and the 11 year old to sleep in. Unload the sleeping stuff for the tent and that is the last that he and I go in the TC. YAH I bought the TC for me and my wife but I am willing to sacrifice the luxury to get the girls to come out.
Suitcases are moved to the cab of the truck and we are ready to camp. When we want to go someplace put suitcases in tent and away we go.
The screen tent acts as a livingroom and the extra tent serves as an area for anyone that wants to get away from the others to read.
