I took delivery of a 2008 Jayco Eagle 345 BHS in April. Since we've had it we've been on a couple of weekend trips, but recently went away for a 2 week vacation. While we were out I noticed my shower was leaking into the basement area soaking the carpet near the driver side compartment door. I caulked the shower base surround, and am still having problems with water leaking around the rivets that Jayco uses to fasten the shower wallboard in place. It also appears to be leaking around the stationary glass panel near the sink. Has anyone else had this problem? My fifth wheel is currently at the dealer for repair.

Leaking when or during a shower? Or leaking as in a plumbing issue?

The surround is made to be installed without caulking, for easier install and less labor. Sometimes a bit of vinyl caulking helps seal and potention leaks. I set a layer of paper towels all around the floor by the shower, took a shower, then examined the towels and found the area that was leaking water.

I would suggest that the dealer pulls the pop rivots, places a dab of silicone caulking & reinstalls the rivots.

It's tough to find small leaks but If you apply some tub & shower caulking to all visible seams/joints then hopefully the problem will be solved. I might fix this myself with gas prices high and dealership service bays full of people waiting.

It's leaking when using the shower. I checked the plumbing and it appears to be ok. I ran the shower and went into the basement area and found water running down the wall into the basement. I the had my wife direct the shower to different areas and found that it leaked mostly when directed over the rivets. I placed tape over the rivets just so we could continue to use the shower, however I still was getting some water through the other area I spoke about.

My suggestion is to check the top of the shower surround where it joins the wall of the bathroom. My Designer has a gap in the corner. I bought tape for selaing bathtubs at Walmart & installed it all alonmg the top seam of the surround & wall. No more leaks. The water had appeared to be leaking from the door but it actually was running down the rear wall & then under the shower.

I had the exact same problem with my Eagle. The base and walls are separate pieces and the walls are supose to go over (overlap) the base. There is no seal between them because Jayco feels that the lip on the base should be tall enough that water should not be able to wick up it and leak out. Nice theory. I had mine in twice to find the leak. They checked all the plumbing and caulked the rivet/screws. Still leaked. I even said that it's probably wicking up and around between the base and walls. They told me it can't because of the lip on the outside of the base. Like I say nice theory, mine still leaked. Reality is that the base is not level so that lip is not at a constant height and the base flexes when your standing in the shower. So I went crazy with caulking at the joint between the walls and base. LEAK STOPPED.

Sorry to hear about it Dog. Hey heads up brother. Be real careful of the bottom pass through kitchen/bunkhouse door. Stowed gear pushed it open during transit and got torn off when opening the big slide. You won't know it's open unless you look BEFORE operating the slide. The only other problem I had was the bathroom sink tailpiece is cracked from misalignment with the trap underneath.

Same problem with our 2006. We had several problems with leaking whatever they use to clamp the pipes together. Was evidently difficult for the techs to get to as the leak was behind the shower and the entertainment center. Same leaking problem with the shower. They didn't put sealant on the top, but did on the bottom. Finally got it stopped. Those crimped connectors are certainly worth the money.
