We are enroute to the FMCA Rally in ST Paul and then on to the Freightliner Chassis Owners Rally in IL.
Yesterday the turn signal switch started operating erratically.
The emergency blinker switch works without a problem. Since it works sometimes, both left and right, it is not a fuse.
Tried spraying from outside with electrical contact cleaner - no effect.
I will try to get access and look for loose connection when we stop at the Rally. If not, try to find a Freightliner dealer or wait until to get to the Rally in IL and ask the Freightliner guys.
In the meantime, hate to be driving without operating turn signals.
Anybody have any additional ideas?
Thanks.

Anybody know if the turn signal flasher on a freightliner is the same as the one for the emergency blinkers. If so, not the flasher as the emergency blinkers work fine.
Also, anybody know where the flasher is located? I can probably find it by listening for the click when we stop and I can get the turn signal working for a little bit.
Generally they are different flashers. However as to where it's located, Your main Chassis fuse block is usually where they go.. Where that is on a Freightliner I have not a clue

I don't have the Freightliner chassis but I, too, was getting erratic signals with my turning signals. Come to find out, the flasher piece was vibrating when traveling over bumps.
Mine is located under the driver area in an outside compartment. I put a rubber-band around the flasher piece and all was fine. I'm not sure if that's what your problem is but it cured mine. My flashers work off the same flasher.

I had the same problem with my turn signals. Try wiggling the 4 way flaser switch. What I found is that when I would adjust the steering whell that I was putting a strain on the 4 way. as soon as I moved the 4 way back into the right position the turn signal worked again.
