I love Beavers Bend but the campsite can be crowded. Does anyone know of other campgrounds in that same area? We would love to be on the river and we have dogs(2 labs)that go with us. (I know, beggars can't be choosers, but it never hurts to ask!)

I would second the Atlanta State park recommendation. We stayed there last fall and really loved it. Nice quiet park with full hookups plus the lake is right there. A real hidden jewel of a park.

I have family in Northeast Texas. Last winter, I took a drive around Pine Creek Lake in SouthEast OK. The COE campground looked great. Maybe next Year, I be there.

Depends on how far you are willing to go. The further from Dallas, the less crowed.

I like Greenleaf SP on Greenleaf Lake, and Pine Creek Cove SP and Strayhorn Landing on Tenkiller Ferry Lake.

Lake Eufala has a number of nice state parks and COE access sites, but also tends to get quite crowded because it is too easy to get to from Texas.

I've heard of Greenleaf and Tenkiller, but where is Pine Creek Cove SP?

Take a look at Robbers Cave SP out of Wilburton Ok. It is on Coon Creek with 2 lakes and lots of neat history.

Just east of the dam. Strayhorn is off of 10A, west side of the lake. Both are on Tenkiller Ferry lake, like I said.

Pine Creek Lake is on Oklahoma Route 3, 10-12 miles west of Broken Bow. There are 2 campgrounds on the lake, one on the North (near Route 3) and the other on the South End near the Dam. It can be accessed from US Route 70 at Valliant via a paved road, watch for the sign. Both looked nice to me. Like I said in my earlier post, I was just scouting for a place, didn't have the RV with me.

The one on the Nor;th is called Little River Park on the Recreation, gov site.

Have you ever tried southwest Oklahoma? Check out Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge near Lawton. Granite Pointe RV Park is a full hookup park with pool, but I would call first. Great mountain and lake view. Camp Doris (federal park) is in the mountains with electricity only.It does have bath houses and plenty of water available though. The deer, buffalo, etc walk right through the campground.
