Hi all,
I have a Ultra-Frab and am not impressed by it. I'll go Barker next time.

I have an Ultra-Fab and have power problems with it. They have sent me a new switch, fuse holder and fuse but it do not have much faith in it. It is only 5 months old and I have kept it covered from elements. It does not appear to have enough power to raise TT and I have the 3500 series and using it on a 4600lb. ultra light.

Just out of curiousity, how fast is the Barker 3500? I'm getting kinda tired of all the cranking too. The reason I ask, is because a friend of mine has a Fifth wheel with electric jack, and it is a pig. It's like press the button and grab a magazine, it is SO SLOW! I understand it must be a different type of jack altogether, but I'd rather crank than see it move an eighth of an inch a minute. One more question, are these jacks capable of lifting the trailer and truck and all in order to install the WD bars? Thanks in advance..

I have an Atwood that I bought on eBay. I don't remember the exact price, but I got it new for about half the price anywhere else. I LOVE it. Cranking used to make me cranky. Now I push the button and I don't particularly care how slow it is. Plug it into your TV instead of going off the TT battery and it goes a lot faster.

I think they are all about the same speed, but they are certainly faster and a lot easier than manual cranking. This is the 1st and best mod a new tt should get.

That's got to be a motor problem. Get back in touch with them and tell them about the struggle lifting and they should send you another without much debate. Otherwise, check to see what kind of amperage the motor is drawing.
Most of the powered jacks work at about the same speed. We're talking 12VDC gear motors designed for high torque. Nice thing about an Ultra-Fab 3500 is the drop foot, which saves inches of crank time!
For me, I like my Ultra-Fab and I selected it based on 1) price (great day on factory refurbs through eBay with full warranty), and 2) the drop foot as I own one of the highest ground clearance models out there.

Does anyone know the difference between the VIP model and the Hi-Power model for Barker? The specs seem to be the same for the weight rating, but the price is different.

How do I know or measure to determine if I need a 2" or 2 1/4" model? I have seen some good deals on ebay and am seriously considering picking one up to add to our new TT. Thanks.

I had the same problem on how to determine the size I needed. What I did was measure the round otter tube that sits on top of the frame of the trailer. I bought the Ultra Fab Odyssey and love it. My camping neighbors are going to get one as well. Its a small 22 foot trailer but my hand crank was $140 to replace here in Canada so I opted to get a electric jack off of eBay US for $220 not much of a difference for what it is.
