Looks like Mike and myself had and have identical TVs except the years were different, but still same truck. Anyways in my previous post, what I was saying is that the everybody thinks the tow rating for a Dodge 1500 Hemi is 8500lbs, but it isn't with 20 inch rims. Thats not apples to apples, you need 17 inch rims to get that higher tow rating. Check the Owners Manual, it should tell you that in there, or call Dodge and ask them. From what I was told is that they gave the Ram a 3.92 axle to compensate for the larger rims for towing, hence the 7700lbs or what ever is lower tow rating. The dealer I talked to also said that he could get me 17 inch rims after I told him there was another truck I was looking at, and that it was really more of a tow vehicle than that Ram.

I didn't have the hemi in my 1999 Dodge I had the 5.9 360 motor w/ 3:55 gears. I pull a 27' about 6800 lbs I went to Door county over the fourth came home traded it in for a 2002 Silverado 6.0 2500 HD with 4:10 gears. The Dodge I thought struggled way to hard on the hills with the Chevy it pulls great.
That's not apples to apples though. 99 Dodge 360 against a 02 Chevy 6.0 W/ 4:10 gears... I'll bet you like the Chevy. That's a sweet set up you've got there.
we just drove about 200 miles and my stress meter never went off 0. I ran 65-70 mph the chevy got 9 MPG I didn't feel the camper pushing and pulling me I didn't feel the semis passing it was great. I won't be going back to a 1/2 ton pulling this TT
