We were in C-loop at Fishing bridge weekend before last and there were a few empty sites on a Saturday night in our loop. Give them a call, might just be able to get you in there. C-loop sites are listed as 40' deep. Our 33.5' 5th wheel went in no problems at all with room on the one side to park the truck. Good luck and have fun!!

Fishing bridge is horrible. Go to West Yellowstone and stay at Grizzly. It's just as close to the attractions and closer to some of the bigger ones.
Fishing bridge has us packed in like sardines. Couldn't open one slide and about 12" from the camper in the back. Then of course there were the all too common black outs. If people in your loop use too much it blacks out the camp and there is no one on duty to reset it.

We've stayed in West Yellowstone and Fishing Bridge but in '07 our favorite trip and favorite campground was Madison.
There are no hookups but I added 4 golf cart batteries and took my Honda 2000 and had the most enjoyable stay ever.

Mammoth is also a dry camping spot in Yellowstone. Nice campground and generators are allowed. They are first come first serve. Nice campground. Roomy campsites.

We stayed 5 nights at Fishing Bridge summer '06. It is the only full hook up in the park. I would think twice about staying outside the park. On the map everything looks close, but with the two lane roads and everyone stopping to look at the wildlife it takes much longer than expected to get anywhere in the park. The sites at Fishing Bridge are tight compared to some, but if you have ever stayed at a popular beach or tourist CG then you know what to expect. Another big plus is the bison that walk through the CG in the am and pm everyday and the family of coyotes nearby!

Fishing bridge is only closer to less then HALF of the park. West Yellowstone is closer to the other HALF. People who think Fishing bridge is "closer" haven't mapped out the mileage.
Fishing bridge is farther to Old Faithful then West yellowstone. Same goes for Mammoth, etc. etc...

I guess my point got missed in translation. We felt that the mileage was not an issue. Everywhere the traffic can slow to a crawl. When we were there some of the roads right after the gate were being worked on leading to back ups at the gates. We liked the idea of staying in the Yellowstone campgrounds for the wildlife and nightly ranger talks. I have pictures of bison walking right by our rig! They walked by every morning while we were eating breakfast and every night after dinner. It does make for some exciting times for my sons. My youngest was riding bikes with a friend he met while at Yellowstone. They biked around the corner and there was a bison! Quickly they dropped their bikes and ran to the nearest camper like we had told them to. The bison just keep on his slow way. Two years later this is still his favorite memory from Yellowstone.

I tried to get into fishing bridge (at yellowstone this week) and called two weeks in advance. That was not early enough. Staying in Gardiner. Rocky Mountain CG. Been here a day and like it so far.
