That is really looking good! We may have to help my sister with a similar job so good to know it's do-able by people with just regular skills.

I'm Done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! whoo hooo!
What a long day! I finished all the final woodwork in the overhead cab area. And I also replace another wall in the back of the unit because it was all water stained. When I was all done with that, I thought I would be nice and flush out the water system for her. It still had antifreeze in the lines and the water was stinking bad! Well everything was going good... I flushed all the lines, hot water tank and fresh water tank. Then I moved on to the black tank and toilet. This is where things got bad...
I could tell by the stench in the bathroom that there was something in the black tank, but meter was saying it was less than 1/3 full so pulled the flush lever on the toilet to fill up the tank more with water. The lever stays on "flush" and doesn't spring back when you let it go. I thought cool, I'll just let the water flow into the tank till it fills. While the toilet was filling the black tank, I went outside to close the gray tank valve that was still open from flushing it out. I wasn't out of the camper for 2 minutes and my Grandpa started yelling on the other side of the camper. I ran over to see what he was yelling about only to find water pouring out of the main entrance door!!! I quickly shut down the water at the outside faucet and ran into the unit to find the toilet was not winterized and a line was broke. The whole time the flush lever was pulled, there was water pouring out the back of the toilet!!! Luckly the camper was parked on an incline that leaned towards the door. We dried everything up real quick but the toilet is toast!
So everything is all done and sealed up. The only thing left is to take it to our local RV dealer tomorrow to have a new toilet installed. I'm not messing with that nasty thing!!! My wifes Aunt plans on painting the new wood I installed and has to hang up all the curtains and put the mattresses back in then its ready for camping!!! I have a total of about 20 hours that I put into this in the past week. I don't think I would get involved in something like this again unless I had way more time to do it. It would make a fun winter project, but not during camping season, too time consuming! I plan on camping the next few weekends and I'll be appreciating our newer TT that needs nothing to be fixed!! I hope everyone enjoyed this "fix it thread".
Rob

Looks like my previously owned 26' Tioga Arrow last summer when I tore everything out in the cabover area and started over again. It took me three full days to demo the bad wood, clean out the mold, replace all the wood, and button up. Like others have said, be sure you have figured out where the leaks were coming from, otherwise you'll be back for a repeat performance in a couple of years. These cabovers just leak. You have to be proactive and be continually on the lookout for new leaks. Just an area that gets a lot flex while in motion. Otherwise the coach looks sound.

Instead of paint she can get that woodgrain self-stick shelf liner paper.
It's the same junk that's on the rest of the walls and will blend in better.
I used that on a class c rebuild before.

Always nice to see someone take the time to save an older unit. Someone else would have sent that to the scrap yard, but with a little time and effort you now have given that thing a new lease on life.
Nice job!
