MUCH closer to what I want in a 4x4 than anything available here. Can't find the actual size or weight, though.
Can't see GM bringing a 4 cylinder in though. Too many people actually want one.

That was why I got my Liberty in the diesel. I wanted a small 4 wheel drive vehicle in diesel that had power and economy. I don't need a 1 ton truck diesel.

A one ton truck diesel pickup has A LOT more than just a diesel engine. It has BIGGER springs, BIGGER brakes, a BIGGER frame, HEAVY DUTY transmission MADE to pull and haul HEAVY loads.
That little liberty might have power by torque from it's diesel engine, and may get better mileage than a 1 ton truck, but I'm sorry to say that's about all it has.
You won't get to upgrade to a bigger traler with a Liberty. Just isn't designed for that kind of weight and lenth. At a very short wheelbase, you're just asking for trouble with a bigger trailer than your 23 footer. And in my book, that's even pushing it.
As far as the Colorado diesel, it would be nice, but colorado's don't haul much either. I would buy a real Japanese truck if I were to buy a Colorado. All a Colorado/Canyon is, is a re-badged Isuzu with GM's trim.

Rollincool - you helped make my point. I need a pickup for the once every few years I get a big appliance or something. I have no need for a fullsize pickup. I drive 60 miles each way to work and I would be a fool to do it in something like my pop's full size 2500HD. I wanted to have 4 wheeldrive in the winter, good gas mileage and the ability to tow a little. I can get 30+ mpg on the daily going to work. Would a 1 ton with all its bigger springs, brakes, frame, etc help there? That is why I said I don't need a 1 ton truck. IF I did I would have one. I'm just saying there is a huge market for small trucks and it would be great to have a diesel. Not everybody is planning to tow a 30 foot TT or 5th wheel.

I appreciate your concern (not being sarcastic) about the size of my TV to TT. I have no plans to ever tow anything bigger than what I tow right now with my Jeep. I agree I'm at the end, that is why it isn't any bigger. I find that having the wheels where they are in relation to the receiver doesn't change how I feel much compared to when I towed it with a pickup that has like 6 feet from the wheels until the receiver (I think its called rear overhang?). I do WD, sway and I drive like an old woman anyway so I keep it slow and steady. I've got the hotel behind me so there is no hurry as far as I am concerned.

Unfortunately you are right.
GM should have two rows of these trucks on every Chevy dealer lot by the end of the calendar year. And I live in a parallel universe.

But you are limited to what you tow, and how safe you are towing it. To me, that's worth more than gas mileage. That is why I said I don't need a 1 ton truck. IF I did I would have one. I'm just saying there is a huge market for small trucks and it would be great to have a diesel. I just don't see a reason for a diesel in a smaller pickup. As much as some people would jump at the idea, the price of diesel jumps everytime a new one is introduced. So what is the savings?

I wasn't trying to put your little Liberty down. I'm sure it's excellent for everyday driving. I myself, wouldn't feel comfortable pulling something like you are with the way people drive out there nowadays. If you ever got into a situation where you have to stop and do some flash manuvers, you'll know that a smaller TV will get pushed around by that "hotel" behind you.

I know you weren't. I was making sure you knew I wasn't thinking of going 35' or something down the line. My best friend has a gasser liberty and we compared fuel costs. I beat him by a decent margin even with the additional cost of diesel fuel because my city mileage is what his highway mileage is. I also spend less on upkeep of the engine. He's always doing plugs, wires, etc. There is also the longevity of the diesel engine. I put 41,000 miles a year (if you avg all my miles out by year) on my Jeep. I know some people think its nuts. My mileage has actually gone up 1-1.5 mpg after my first 40,000 went on.

I have an idea the diesel will not pass the smog the USA has. Very unfortunaly. Just like in the mid-90's when Ford was making an Aerostar mini-van with a 4cyl turbo charged diesel that was earmarked for "export only". Was only giving 52 mph in European countries. Bet soccer moms would love to have something like that in the USA!
