Hello. I am trying to get the raod ac in my Beaver working proerly. Our ac technician suggested finding out how much freon is in each unit so we can weigh in the proper amount. I checked all of the manuals and cannot find the total amount each side takes. This is the 1986 Beaver Marquis with two air conditioning systems driver and pass side with condensers under the front bumper and evap over rear bed. Any help would be appreciated since it is over 100 in TX each day.

when you say 2 a/c do you have 2 compressors on engine or 1.If one it must be like a 2 zone not to separate systems. Check on the evap. box or firewall by looking for a sticker that tells what your a/c system is . On some heavy trucks they list the amount needed. You probably use R-12. You are talking about the vehicle a/c.Is it an Evans system there should be a name on it somewhere. Also if you know the chassis maker you can call them if they are still in business.

Any RV tech "worth their salt" should be able to charge a system by the pressures and/or sight-glass and not be concerned with the amount of refrigeratnt the system holds.

I hope you do NOT have the old Dometic 12 volt system that Executive used also back in the mid 80's. If so, it will be hard to find parts and the charge tables. Do you know what brand it is? Doug

Those systems are effectively custom and are charged with the sight glass. Your guy is not the right tech unless he can speak to someone who knows the sight glass method. If you can't find a sight glass, (usually on the dryer), I'd be surprised. He might have to convert you over to R134A if he can't get R12. That requires a changed reciever dryer, some new seals, and a different lubricant.
