Our Lucy, just 7 1/2 mo. has really gotten into TV. She stays inside most of the time especially now that it's summer and so hot here. All her toys, stuffed animals, etc. are in the family room where the TV is, about 4' high in an entertainment center. It's usually on with the volume turned low. Well she has discovered the commercials with dogs, horses, bears, all sorts of animals. She'll see an animal, jump up and get on the ottoman we have in front of the TV, stand up with her paws on the bottom of the set and watch the animals while making a few playful yips as in come play with me. Also watches the TV in the Motorhome, not as much though as it's much higher. Our previous dog Allie never paid the least attention to TV.

Nope, two dogs, one a Maltese, one a Yorkie, both 7, pay no attention. If we are watching TV, one is usually curled up in my lap dozing, the other in DH's lap, also dozing!

Megan used to, but being mostly deaf and limited vision, she doesn't care.

I have seen VCR tapes (probably have DVD's now) that are designed specially for cats or dogs. It's supposed to keep them occupied while you are at work. The cat on I saw was an aquarium with swimming fish. Talk about torture!!

Lizzy my King Charles does the same thing except she'll bark first and run into the kitchen thinking their in there. The funniest thing now is the Advantage commercial. She knows the music and if I can't turn it down fast enough she will come tearing to the TV from whatever room she is in the house. Pets are funny!

Door bell ring on the Simpsons show would send my dogs running crazy, 'only' the one on the Simpsons.

New dog goes into slow mo stealth and almost incites his seizures when watching a hosptial program like Grays Anatomy when the monitor machine next to a patient starts that high pitched beeping.

To watch this program I have to keep my trigger finger ready at all times and pay attention when a patient looks like he's going to code so I can hit the mute button.

I've got to get a life or new dogs.

My rabbit used to watch tv especially cartoons and sons Iguana liked to lay on the back of the monitor where it was nice and warm.

Your question was directed to pooch.....I do not have a pooch yet....
Miko, was a Tabi cat and used to wash TV, for his nature shows. It was a 15 minutes documentary on birds, every night on our weather channel, many years ago. Then he got used to watching with us DVD with action in them. If the film had no action...he would fall asleep. "The kids", my two cats presently, care only for TV because of the quality time shared with us, not what is on the screen.

Our Lucy does, many things will catch her attention and she will focus on it for qutie awhile and cock her head back and forth, she's pretty cute to watch and I don't dare turn the channel.

Our dog does watch TV a little. What really get her attention is light and shadows. In the morning she lays near the master bath where light comes in the skylight. In the afternoon, it's the kitchen skylight. Her favorite sport is chasing bird or butterfly shadows. She even got our other dogs doing it. We had a Lab that started watching the shadow when I threw a tennis ball. She stopped watching the ball. We also had a standard poodle that got into chasing butterfly shadows. If the butterfly landed, she would sit and wait until it flew again.

When I was a kid, my parents had a cat that would go after football players on TV. I also had a strange cat that fetched like a dog. It started playing with some butterscotch candies I had in a bowl. I threw one and the cat brought it back. He would do that till he was panting. He also 'attacked' if you made eye contact and didn't break it.
