I use a cup full of Pinesol. Disenfects and lubes the valves and smells nice and clean. Been using that for years on several rv's and have never had solids stick or buildup in tank or on sensors. Blue liquid from walmart while we are camping.
Remember, you will be dumping into the rv parks septic system all the stuff you stick in your tanks. Try not to use bleach. Tex

I would think if the users "used olive oil. fabric softener or pinesol" as part of their diet the problem would be mute, or maybe not. I prefer a hose with a nozzle every now and then, JMHO

Should probably clarify that last statement. I ah prefer the nozzle and hose for the occasional RV, emphasis on the RV part, tank cleaning. LOL

I second the olive oil suggestion for Bad Advice of the Week! Have you seen what happens to olive oil when it gets cool?

I see a lot of people using bleach in their holding tanks This can be very dangerous. Several types of dangerous gasses can be released. There are numerous online warnings, and too many dangerous mixtures to list; many are common household cleaning materials. I will list one reference below.
Household cleaners can create poison gas. Two examples are:
Mixing together chlorine bleach or chlorine cleansers with ammonia.
Mixing together chlorine products with shower tile cleaner, toilet bowl cleaner or any type of acid.

Yea, dangerous gasses. Weve had our share of those in the little room of the RV from time to time! Tex
