Almost anything that pops up from a website, offering you virus or privacy protection, or suggests that you are infected or under attack and need to "click here now" to save your computer, is malignant.
Put shortcuts to the AV stuff you want him to run in his Startup Group. Then go through that folder and secure the links so he can't change them. While in there, you can also alter his task bar not to show they are even running. It's a little draconian, but should work once and for all. Just make sure he isn't logging in as Administrator. If he's slick enough to figure out how to remove them after all that, then he's slick enough to do his own cleanup next time.
(And tell him to quit visiting those porn sites, lol.)

James, that sounds interesting, but do you know if the program is designed to just erase "footprints" from the previous users or does it actually re-store and re-boot the system each time ?
Do you happen to remember the name of the program ?
Thanks,
John
The name of the program is Deep Freeze PC from Faronics
PLEASE .... before this goes any farther.... and the mod has to close the thread..
This is about my friend and his computer... it is NOT about PC vs Mac....
You want a Mac, thats fine... we don't happen to like them...
So Please .. lets stay away from that never ending issue..
Thank you,
John
I thought it was about how to stop people fromm clicking the links. I said nothing derogatory about PCs. Your "Heads Up" to read before clicking links doesn't work with many elderly or non-compute savvy people and never worked for many of the people I know.
You posted your warning and I posted my solution for some, which works very well. If you found a different solution fine, don't try to silence the solutions others have found. It's a never ending issue.
Nothing is more frustrating then trying to talk someone through a problem over the phone and you hear click, click, click, click, right after you told them not to click anything.
