In maybe 25 miles of local driving to run errands, I saw _three_ different rental C's. One on I-40, one on US 70, and one in a parking lot just off I-240. Interestingly, the one in the parking lot was on a Ford F-series chassis. No cab-coach connection, though, darnnit. Yeah, I looked. All were smallish units, probaly under 25'.
These were all in the city limits. I know this town is a popular tourist destination, but in my 42 years here, I've never seen that many in a short trip across town and back. I wonder if there's a shift in how families take their vacations, or if it was just coincidence?

Renting an RV is still cheaper than flying, and you get to stop at different places along the way.

These may have been rented to foreigners who come here to take advantage of the exchange rates in currencies. The Europeans are accustom to small units as their highways don't accomodate large rigs. They call them carravans. There are some that live here in US that can't see the logic to buy until they rent and even then may prefer not to buy and loose there money through depreciation. I too saw many rentals on the July 4th weekend.

I've sensed a huge increase in privately owned rentals - I don't recall seeing so many when I was looking for a rental. People seem to want to make some money from the vehicle they can't afford to fill with gas anymore.
Why Full-Timing? Because at my age, I have maybe 40 more chances to see flowers bloom.

Last fall, in the Canadian rockies, rentals were about 1:1 with private rigs. Met some nice folks from Germany there to see the sites.
There are many outfits that sell fly/drive an RV /fly package for very popular scenic destinations, such as fly to Vancouver, BC, drive the rockies and the ice fields and then fly home from Calgary or Edmonton, AB.
Europeans (at that time) still found our gas prices to be very cheap.

Last week, I was in Lake Louise National Park CG before heading up to Jasper, AB., the trailer section was probably 80% rental units. Couldn't believe the number of rentals this year compare to number of privates.

While in Utah, over the forth, at an RV resort, we saw maybe six rental units in there.
We were returning from a trip to Utah and about every third RV that we saw were rentals.
We spent a couple of days at Oasis RV resort in Vegas and saw about a dozen renatls in there.
Maybe the people were trying them out to see if they liked it before they bought one. I dont know.

The rentals that we talked to when we were traveling were from Europe. They were enjoying the de-valued dollar. One of the travelers was really interested in the towing setup we had with the Vue. He said you don't see cars being towed behind MH in Europe. We chatted for several minutes and he took a short video of the setup.
