Ok so I have been looking on craigslist in my area trying to find a way to tow my honda civic behind our RV to CA. The problem is all the tow dollies that I have found that are reasonable have no elect brakes which I have been told I should get. The other avenue I was going to go is to get the base plate for my car which was 350. then get the tow bar another 300. and then was told I would need a brake buddy which was way to pricey for me I need to keep this under a grand. Anyone know of a solution and is it absolute that I need brakes on the dolly or tow bar system? Any help would be appreciated supposed to leave in 4 weeks. If anyone has a cheap solution for sale and is in the NE area email me at mibi1995@aol.com
Thanks

IMHO you cannot tow a toad "cheaply", "safely" and smartly. About 50 years ago we towed a model T home using chains and a tire to hook it up.

If this is a one shot move you might just rent this car trailer:
UHaul car trailer
It has automatic hydraulic brakes.
If it's not a one shot move, I'd invest in the proper equipment to tow your Civic.

What does your home state(where your RV is registered) say you have to have for brake equipment? I'd use the dolly.

What are you planning on towing with? Some class c's and A's have only a 350 lb tounge weight and 3500 lbs load. Only 4 down would work with those limits. Also is your Civic a stick shift?

If it is a one time tow, you might want to ship the car, that's likely to cost around $1000.

yep, I didn't notice that this is probably a one time event. heck you can get somebody to drive it for you for free or not much that wants a one way trip out to CA.
