A follow up on test drive. Drove an 05 American Coach tradition, 40 foot 3 slides 20k miles. Handled good, more roll than a tag model 42 foot but better than my 98 beaver. Quieter and rattle free. Looks like my search is narrowed down to an American Coach.

I have an honest #3200 CCC on my 41 foot non tag. What are you guys talking about ? Please stop making stuff up !

I don't have IFS so "wallowing happens " Wallowing is more of an IFS thing .
Please explain what you think we are making up??

What chassis is that on?? I took a older American Dream out on a Spartan and I thought it was excellent.

Nothing wrong with a coach from American at all!

As you can see you have to DRIVE a used coach to see how it does...cant just say that because its a "X" brand with a "Y" chassis and tires that it will perform.

Shocks mean a lot...how the coach was driven previous can mean a lot ( if Grandpa drove it on every backroad and pigtrail there is..24K miles can almost destroy the shocks)

Tire inflation and RIDE HEIGHT! The coach Grandpa had may have been out of adjustment on its ride hight and that can make a HE** of a difference in the rode ( ask how I know...lol)

The choice on American coaches ( Eagle; Dream and Tradition) used should be pretty good...because they made a BAZILLION of the 3 total.

40', no IFS, no tag, 6,049 lbs. ccc, some wallowing over angled drive approaches, otherwise great handling.

I get that wallow when I run over a railroad track out in the boonies somewhere...angeled sharply to the road itself!...lol Like riding on the back of an elephant...

Just my opinion, and we owned on '04 Phaeton and was pleased at the time. In other words, better than our previous coaches. However, we test drove an '07 42' Bus on a Spartan and an '07 43' Beaver Contessa on the Roadmaster. Both on the same stretch of interstate and back roads. The Tiffin dealer was down the street from the Monaco factory. The Bus was noisier and some bad rattles. Also some air noise up around the cockpit. It does roll on tight turns and driveways. The Contessa had no noise in the cockpit. Very quiet. And the three way level system on the chassis makes it take turns like a sports car and helps going in and out of driveways. We bought the Contessa and today, 1 1/2 years later and 18,000 miles, we still love to drive this coach. Still quiet as a mouse going down the road.

It is just my personal opinion that test drives for the most part are more like joy rides. The reason being is, just read the previous posts. No two used coaches drive alike. There are so many factors like tire pressure, tire wear, the way it was serviced, driven, etc etc.....now, I would never buy a coach without driving it first, I hope we all feel the same there. But driving used coaches I'm not interested in is a waste of time.....I think a 98 Beaver drives like a dream until you go to park it in a tight spot, 42 degree cramp angle verses later model 50,55, and 60 degrees....I also think Newmar's Comfort Drive should be on all coaches, a dream when parking and backing up and for for the long hauls.....so what...each of us loves different things, that is why we have choices....jmho.....

JMO, but the length of the coach had little to do with our last MH.
Our previous 32ft.DP Itasca, on a Freightliner XC rail type chassis ,would roll and shift from side to side when going over any uneven ground. Crossing into a driveway from the main street, where there was a grade change, would sometimes open the cabinet doors.
