This is such a nice forum, you can come here and ask questons regarding anything that has to do with your pet and not get made funof. Thank you all for that.
As in a previous post I ask advice on how to handle and what to expect from a rescue dog, well we have had her 2 weeks today and things are going very well exceptfor one thing and that is going number 2 in the house, she has the peepee doing good but not the number 2. But we are working on that.
My question today, she gets this googy mater in her eyes and I have been cleaning her eyes with a cotton balol and water, is there a better way to do this ? Is there something else I need to be doing to clean her eyes.
Thank you all again.

ps she is becoming so attached to me that she rounds around the house like a wild women looking for me, I am hoping she will adjust better the longer time we have her.
She is such a cutey and I love her and I am enjoying her.
God is good
Congratulations on your rescue. The googy matter in her eyes sounds like an eye infection to me. You might want to take her to the Vets. Charlie had the same thing awhile back. The doctor put him on eye drops.
"Buggy eyed" dogs such as our Lhasa Apsos and Maltese mix do tend to have some discharge. On light colored coats it can stain since it is a dark color. I use a wet paper towel to clean around all three of our dog's eyes, as mentioned above two are Lhasas and one is a Maltese/Shih Tzu mix.
If the discharge gets so bad that is becomes sort of crusty within several hours after cleaning there might indeed by some sort of eye infection or an allergy reaction. If so, your vet will be the best judge of what is causing the "gookies".
Lhasas are wonderful companion dogs! They can be head strong but they are very smart and oh so loyal! I just adore mine!
THANK YOU for rescuing her, I know you will enjoy many happy years together.

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some sort of battle.... Live simply, love wholly, give generously, care deeply, speak kindly.
There are wipes for cleaning their eyes, they sell them at Petco. Wet paper towels work just as well. We got two lhasa's from a rescue group. One is gone now (he was old when we got him). Gus is still with us. He is very possessive and follows DW everywhere. We do have to watch him around small children, he will snap at them. They are excellent RVing dogs. The one bad trait - he snores very loud and sleeps on our bed. Vet said he could not help with that problem.
