I am very close to buying a new TT, one of the things that has me concerned is the inconsistant pricing. It seems TT sell for a very different amount based on who is buying, when it is bought, where it was bought,..and so on??
To give you an example I found a TT on a lot that my wife and I loved, it was $26,999, way more than we wanted to pay so we did not buy. This was last summer. Well, a few months ago while camping we seen the very same TT (or at least the same model) on a camp ground a few spots down from us. We made friends with the couple over our stay at the camp ground and found out they purchased the TT in question at the winter camper & RV show for $18,000!! They even mentioned it had been $26,999. Now if I had purchased this camper for $26,999 I would have been very upset!
So, how much can you expect off the asking price. If I find a TT for $21,000 what would you expect to write the check for to actually take it home? $19,500?? $17,500 ???

**sigh**... I know what you mean. It is like buying a car.
1. Do as much research on prices and dealers as you can stand.
2. Find what you feel is a good deal.
3. BUY IT.
4. Enjoy your new camper... and...
5. NEVER, NEVER look at prices again.
Someone will always have paid less than you, and you will have paid less than someone else. Just the way things are. After we bought our TT brand new, the next week right up the road from me was an almost identical TT for sale... barely used, essentially brand new, for half the price I paid for mine... Just the way things are.

It's all relative.
What you're willing to pay for a TT, I'm not, and vice-versa. What I think is a good deal may not appeal to you.
Unless the trailer you saw in the campground came from the same dealer you saw it at, then all bets are off.
If you're dead-set on trying to haggle with the dealer, start with 30% off what the sticker says and work from there. They'll laugh at 30% off, but, hey, give it a shot. You've got nothing to lose but your time and effort.

Yes, the TT came from the very same dealer. I think I will just find several TT we like and start low-balling, first dealer to cave in gets the sell.

Usaully the range can vayr from 20-30% but things are tough for the RV business and some may be willing to go even higher. It doesn't hurt to shop around and work out the best deal.

Having just recently purchased a new TT I can tell you customers are not breaking down dealership doors to buy new units. The sales manager where I purchased mine said to me "how did you ever get that unit that cheap"? My reply was that I did the research needed to know what price I could get that unit for. I asked him how business was and his reply was "challenging". I think that says it all.

Is the camper you looking at buying for sale at RV Direct or RV Wholesalers? If it is log onto their site and get a price quote. If you can beat that price by a couple thousand you have done well.

Also remember the story you told seemed to show the other guy bought in the winter. During the off season the dealers are doing even worse and should be more motivated. I contacted three dealers in Oregon that had the rig I wanted. It was winter and they had just had three snowstorms and the roads had been closed for days. I offered each a price 30% lower than the asking price. Two balked. The third countered $100.00 higher. I agreed on the spot and have been thrilled since. I have ever asked another owner what they paid. I am happy and will stay that way. Maybe ignorance actually is bliss.
