The family is making our inaugural trip in the new 5er in a few days and I'd like to weigh my setup tomorrow. Where do you guys weigh your rigs? State highway weigh stations or truck stops? If I go to a truck stop do I need to go inside and pay someone to use the scale, or do I just pull up to the scale and go for it. I'm planning on weighing the following:

With trailer attached:
Front truck axle
Back truck axle
5er first axle
5er second axle

Without trailer attached:
Front truck axle
Back truck axle

Is there anything else I need to weigh?

Garbage collector, sand and gravel site, truck stop, some state inspection places, moving companies, and I suppose many others.

Any "Cat" scale, at any truck stop. Just pull up on the scale...press the button, tell the attendant you're a private RV, then go in an pay...very easy!

We weighed ours at the local truck scales and I believe that it cost us $10.00.

CAT scales are found at truck stops, Flying-J etc.

Just pull onto the scale and press the button. Tell them you are private vehicle and first weigh. You will be able to get truck front/rear and combined trailer axles for sure. They will tell you "all set" then you pull around and go inside to pay (I just paid $8 in PA) and they print you the slip. You can re-weigh the truck alone the same way, except tell them it's a re-weigh. That's cheaper. I guess you could try to get the trailer tandems on two plates for that too but it would probably be a third trip because I doubt the truck would line up on plates if you line up the trailer.
