I only drive GM Trucks, have only owned 1 Ford. I've owned 5 Duramax/Allisons and I believe GM Trucks have the best drive train and of course they have the most HP and Torq. The interior is much better and sleeker than the other brands. And the Super Duties aren't good on fuel mileage, just read the Ford sites. Most towing heavy get between 6 to 8 mpg. And several have had problems. Some will say they are getting 10 mpg or more per gal towing heavy loads, like over 14,000 lb 5th wheels. Keep in mind the Duramax/Allison are a proven Combo have only made improvements in HP and Torq since GM started using the Combo. But if your in the market for a Diesel now is probably the best time to buy. If you go with the Ford SD, I for sure would go with the 4.30 rear gear, to much RPMs with the 4.88's but you can't buy a new SD with the 4.88. Ford quit offering them, again fuel mileage. Good Luck with your choice. GBY....

Honestly....you have your mind made up and you are looking for affirmation of your decision. We all do. If you are truely looking for suggestions rob85546 hit it right on the head.

Buy the one you can get the lowest monthly payment on, that suits your taste. They are all fine trucks that will serve you well. Pit Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge and see what kind of deal you can get.

I'm a Ford F250 6.4 owner looking for affirmation so I will tell you Ford F250 6.4. Even though it seems as though the Ford has worse mpg's.

I am not totally sold on the Fords but I do prefer them. The MGP's will be the only reason I do that direction. Really going to consider it though.

I still can't see how asking for brand advice on this forum has ever resulted into a productive answer.

From what I have heard/seen it looks like the Duramax/6.4 will be close in MPG..Maybe a slight edge to the D-max....I dont think it would be enough to sway me either way....

Im glad I got the 07 classic.. I jsut put an exhaust on mine and turned 15k miles... On my last trip of around 600 miles I averaged 19, 19.8 and 20 mpg, hand calculated ..filled up until its full..In town its been looking like 13-14, I have only check that with few miles averaged..

There are some exhaust kits for the new LMM duramax that go turbo back and eliminate the cat and the filter.. Im sure that would help with mpg if one wanted to go that route.

Just an update for those of you that posted...thanks again but due to the market etc...it doesn't make encomoic sense for me to make the move to a new truck. Going to ride the over-reactive market out and see what happens with the 09's. Wondering if they can manage to squeeze a more more MPG's out of the engines.

I wonder how Ford and Chevy are moving trucks. I didn't even talk trade with 2 dealers and they were not very willing to move on pricing and get creative. Makes you wonder if the dealerships are inflating the actual stickers then applying rebates etc to make it seem that there are good deals out there and there are but I don't think anyone is as desperate to move trucks as some people believe. At least not here in TX. I am getting 14-15's with my PSD city and 18-19+ on the highway right now, 13's towing. So despite being broken in to 2 times in 15 months, I think I will just add a new alarm system to the truck and put the stock radio back in. Its a shame that we live in a society where we all work hard for our stuff and some people just don't care about your property and will destroy it to get and make a few bucks. Not to digress, but we donate a lot of our money to charity, church and various organizations. Its a shame that the people that break in don't know that we are giving people and if they had they come on hard times and just asked for help we would be willing to do what we could. Dishonest people make us not want to be as giving. My truck received 4200.00 in damages just to get the radio out including the loss of the radio and a few personal items.

Destroyed the steering wheel, dash, tow command module, AC computer system, center console KR leather lid, drivers seat leather, arm rest, broken door lock assembly, dented door and pulled down the overhead console looking for personal items. Took the Alpine Radio, 2 ipods and the Alpine Navigation system.

Did I mention this was in a Baby's R Us Parking lot at noon on a Wed?

Ok, off my little bruised soap box. Back to your scheduled programming.

With Ford, you shouldn't even have to talk price with no trade. Employee pricing + rebates. Can't do better than that.

Agree, but when you inflate the MSRP and provide the discounts it doesn't seem as good as what what we are lead to believe. But its better than no discount at all.
