I saw guys using GN adaptors
guys who were double towing
guys towing with lifted trucks
half tons pulling BIG 5ers
short beds with no slider hitch

It is a wonder they all lived thorough the weekend!!!!!!!

Just having a little fun!! I have learned a lot from this forum and would like to thank the members for the knowledge they have shared.

Have a safe and fun rest of the camping season!!!!!!!

Aahhh... never owned a 5'er, but I thought that I knew most of the slang.

Thanks for the info!

One of my neighbors had a GN adapter that had a built in shock absorber. My buddy who is a farmer and considering switching from a TT to a 5er was enthralled with the idea. Financially, it's actually cheaper to go that route and if you pull Gn's on the farm. It's kind of a no brainer for the farm boy....

A slider hitch is not always needed for a shortbed truck. Towed for years without a slider hitcher with a shortbed truck and never had any issues. 5'r had an extended pin.

We towed four 5th wheels with a short bed truck without a slider hitch and never had a problem but did have to watch it.
Now have a long bed on new truck. Much easier turning.

We saw a couple getting hitched up from site next to us in Branson with a 5th wheel. She was standing between the back of the truck and under the end cap of the 5th wheel guiding him back. We told them how dangerous that was. They said they knew it was dangerous but there was no other way for them. We told them there is another way and we don't do that and most people do not do that!!! Scary!!!

I saw guys using GN adaptors

And? People do this all the time and its perfectly safe!

guys who were double towing

See above

guys towing with lifted trucks

Whats the problem using a lifted truck?

half tons pulling BIG 5ers

again I have to think, so what. I see 1/2 tons pulling big fivers all the time. Seems to work just fine for them.

short beds with no slider hitch

Not always needed.

It is a wonder they all lived thorough the weekend!!!!!!!

I tow doubles locally to my favorite fishing holes (the boat). I have done several things to add to the safety of the setup but when done properly I don't have a problem with doubles.

I bought a slider when I got my first FW a few years back (short box truck). I used the sliding feature twice to try it out. Never used it since. Would not bother with one again.... and yes I still have my original back window.... in a garbage bag in the back of the garage (just kidding it is on the truck in one piece)
