Would like to hear from campers who have or had electric awnings.

Just bought a new coach and its the first year with the elec. awning, wouldn't be without it. If you are camping for a week the wind might come up so its real handy to crank it in if you are going away for a few hours. We find we use it more because its so handy.

I like ours and much prefer it to the manual ones. I do wish we had the weather sensor type, but we hit the button before going to bed if we think there's even a chance of severe weather.

I recently upgraded out Carefree awning to the adjustable Eclipse electric arm set. We love it. We use the awning a lot more than we did with the manual arms. The Eclipse arms have 6 or 7 different angles they can be set at and you can retract it at whatever angle they are set at. I did a basic simple electrical setup with just the rocker switch under the front arm to battery with a circuit breaker. It came with a panel for inside also and I decided why bother.

I agree with the other posts. The electric awning is my favorite thing on our new rig.

We like our electric awning. Came standard on our Jayco and we use it more than we did the manual on our previous rig because it is easier more convenient. Used to with the manual one if we weren't staying long I wouldn't deploy the manual one because of the hassle but with the electric no hassle just push a button.

Having had both I lean torward the manual awning. True it is easier to put the electric up and down or in and out. But I miss having my awning out regardless of the weather and also now we had to go to rope lights on the ground. I had the manual out and tilted or tied down in all kinds of weather and in 30 years never had a problem. Also you can't use a screen house with the electrics.

A Dometic 9100 electric awning came on our new rig. It has its good points and its bad points. The good points are its easy to put out and take in - the press of a button. We now don't have to worry about wind and heavy rain. We just simply walk over and press the button and the awning is safe. The bad points are our model isn't adjustable. We can't lower it or dip one side. Also we can't hang our lights from it. Well we can, but then in order to take it in, we have to go outside and take the lights off of it - which defeats the luxury of just being able to press a button when the wind kicks up.

We got one on our Escalade and just the wind sensor roll up makes it worth it. We'd do it again....

If you like to hang lights or decorations from the awning keep in mind that if it's electric with a wind sensor you run the real risk of having everything roll up in the awning unexpectedly.
We are all good at something.....
I just happen to be a good bad example.
Occasionally in error but never in doubt.
