I feel your pain. The same happened to me a few campers back when I had a new 03 Rockwood pop-up. To replace a roof cost $3,000.00 and took for ever to receive from the manufacturer. Mine lifted up and pierced the roof.

I just lost my awning on Sunday night. Thing that sucks is that my trailer is on a seasonal site 75 miles away so I got the call while I was at work and had to leave to go cut the awniing off the trailer.

First thing I did was call the insurance company. Trailer is only 3 months old......

SSport, no disprespect, but do I understand that you were 75 miles away and your awning was out?

I wish mine would get swept away cleanly like that. I really want one of those electric awnings with a wind sensor.

Wow there must be a bunch of those “microburst” happening now days. On June 22nd, we were in a park in northern Indiana. Our friends who were camping about 5 sites down from us invited us over for brunch. We were only gone maybe 60 minutes on a beautiful sunny & humid late morning when one hit our awning. I was lucky it just ripped the fabric off the tube, even though we had 2 (each side) De-Flappers on it. I turned it into the insurance, and my dealer is replacing it. I never let the awning out if we are not there, but I just didn’t even think to put it away…

SSport, no disrespect, but do I understand that you were 75 miles away and your awning was out?

I guess SSport learned an expensive lesson. I see it often in parks where seasonal campers leave their awnings out. Of course sometimes I see them on top of the trailer or on the ground (and the owner is 75 miles away). Sorry for your mishap.

Glen...yep, that Greenland is the cats meow..or whiskers...whatever! I carry it up forward in my 'C' and I have had so much use out of it, hard to believe. Of course, I wasn't really suggesting your awning didn't matter...but.well, you got my drift anyway!

Are you certain it was was an actual microburst? The same thing happened here on the Front Range around midnight. Absolute calm followed by a few blasts of wind in the rip awnings off velocity range.

Lesson of the day for anyone visiting Colorado that's use to leaving them deployed at night: When not in actual use, roll'em or lose'em.

Best advice I got about awnings was from the gentleman who walked me through my PDI when I bought my first new motorhome: "If you're not under your awning, roll it up".

Best Regards!

Checked with the insurance agent today...should be covered, but for the deductible. Now I just need to get an estimate done and I'll have a check!

Microburst or not, it sure was weird. And served as a very effective awning removal tool. Though not exactly where or when I wanted it to happen!
