As mentioned by other posters, I wouldn't due it. Check my signature, I towed my trailer with a 3/4 ton for a couple of months (was okay). But I wanted a little more comfort, so I went up to the 1 ton dually, little much but again, love the ride and cushion. I'd ask them to put the king pin in your bed, and see how far your bed goes down, it may be shocking. I found with the layout of our rig, so much of the weight is on and in front of the axles; therefore total trailer weight is fine for a 3/4 ton, but the pin weight was extreme!!! Now that said, many are pulling like rigs with a 3/4 ton, just depends on your comfort level... just watch the pin weight, not the GVWR.

You definitely need to go with the light weight series trailers offered by Heartland. The regular Sundance line is to much for you.
But I would love to hear someone who has one of the new light weight trailers that Heartland is now offering.

We have a Sundance 2500 RS w/ a F250,V10/4.10 ,tow/haul tranny.We had a F150 ,5.4/
3.73 before we bought the Sundance.There is no way we would try to pull our Sundance ,which is smaller than the 2900,with a F150.On flat land it would be alright,but in the mountains it would be murder.That is if you intend to stay under the speed limit.Safety is a big concern.

You are receiving sound advice from experienced folks, which is what you asked for.
It is better to have too much truck and the peace of mind and reserve that goes with it compared to the white knuckles potential of too little truck.
My 5er has lower numbers (specs) than the 2900MK and I have a 1 ton RAM, I wouldn't get much more 5er than what I have without considering going to DRW.

One thing to remember is when towing a trailer that exceeds your trucks limits is you can be in a lot of trouble if you get into an accident.

you didn't say what your trucks RAWR was as it carries the load. I'm guessin' the actual pin weight of this size 5er will put you over the 1500 RAWR. I have a 28' 5er that has a advertised dry weight of 8600 lbs but actual road ready with just the bare necessities it weighs 10200 lbs. The GVWR is 11200. You need to be looking at a trailers GVWR as that will be closer to actual loaded weight.

We started our fifth wheel experience with a 1/2 ton towing a little 17.5' fifth wheel with an advertised gross dry weight of 3,450 lbs and advertised pin weight of 540 lbs. In real life the fiver weighed 4,585 lbs and its pin weight was 880 lbs.
After one season we upgraded the truck to a 3/4 ton diesel 4x4.
After two seasons with the F-250 and 17.5' fiver, we upgraded the fiver to a 25' fifth wheel, no slides. Dry weight advertised at 5,850 lbs with a GVWR of 7,000 lbs. Last trip we stopped at the weigh scale. Our F-250 PSD 4x4 was 300 lbs over its GVWR while carrying this "small" fiver. The truck easily handles the weight and towing so we're not overly concerned but would not go any larger with this truck.
Note ... we bought the 25' fiver for a real good price from someone that owned a 1/2 ton. When he bought the fiver new he was told it was 1/2 ton towable. He said he felt very uncomfortable towing a fiver that size with his truck and he didn't want to upgrade his truck so was selling the fiver. So we got a like-new fiver at half the new price.

I have been a supporter of half ton towing of fifth wheels but in your case I must say you have too little truck and too much trailer. You will need a minimum of a 3/4 ton.
