For quite sometime, I have been able to plug my MH into a 15 amp plug-in at home...Recently, it has started tripping the breaker in the garage. Nothing else is plugged into the circuit vs at any other (ie water timer system)time. Also the things on in the MH are the typical...the detector for gas...the walkie talkies and the DVR...these total about 5 amps...
Any way to check what is causing the trip...the circuit doesn't trip unless the MH is plugged into it...

Put a "clamp on ammeter" on the line from that breaker and assure your self, that you are NOT exceeding 15 amps. Having done that, the breaker still tripping, with a "confirmed " amperage under 15 amps...Replace the breaker...

Battery charger can draw quite a bit of current at times...Your's on?

Confirm that you haven't left any other devices on - electric water heater maybe?

Not a great ammeter, but inexpensive!

If you end up with a "transient" type problem, purchase this one

Try swapping out the breaker itself. They can get freaky at times and the heat of the "juice" running thru them can cause them to trip.

I bought one of those beautiful Harbor frieght units a few years back, when they were $25 or so. I love it - it has saved my A** more than once. We were going to toss a fridge (the garage fridge) 'cause it seemed to be drawing too much current - making a lot of humming noise. The Ammeter showed it was using 'zactly what it was rated for. made me happy.

Gdlow - you might want to start at the RR end of the circuit. Shut off all the breakers, and plug it in. I'd guess the house breaker won't trip. Now, at the rig, put on one breaker at a time. Perhaps you can narrow it down this way.

Is it the breaker or a GFI that needs reset?

Gdlow . . .

Well now wait a minute...What was the problem?

RV wasn't on the circuit by itself?

Several possible answers but let me ask

Does it trip a breaker, in a breaker box... Or is it tripping a GFCI (Normally an outlet though GFCI's can be incorporated into breakers)

Many rigs will trip GFCI's, this can be caused by several things including a problem INSIDE THE HOUSE (Or rather with the drop to the house) it can be caused by a converter,, Some converters will trip GFCI's if there is no battery or if the battery is not sufficiently charged. (Please do not ask why)

Further testing is needed.

It's already "fixed." He found what was causing the problem. It wasn't the RV. We're just waiting for him to tell us what it was.
