GM is valued at $5 billion, and Toyota is valued at $140 billion.......their days are pretty much over domestically, I'd say.

It is pretty distrubing to see American companies cry were going bankrupt when CEO's get huge bonuses for cutting wages instead of reinvesting that money into the business they claim to be trying to save.
One example of that is American Axle rewarded their CEO Dauch an 8.5 million bonus for slashing wages 50%.
In addition to the bonus Dauch received $1.5 million salary, stock awards and other compensation, which brought his total to $18.7 million in 2007.
There is no question that there exists an entitlement mentality within the top echelons of Detroit’s auto executives, who are receiving huge rewards even as their companies teeter on the brink of bankruptcy and are wiping out tens of thousands of jobs.

It has a great chassis, 200 Horsepower, 220 lbs of torque and great MPG up to 38 highway.. It almost looked like they were trying to lose business.

"1989" (thats right 1989) Gm will import three vehicals and sell them under the GEO name badge. The Prizim (toyota) also Metro and Tracker (suzuki). The metro was here as the Chevy Sprint as far back as 1987 as was the Prizim only before that it was a "new" nova.
Shortly there after the GEO badge was droped and Chevrolet picked up these models (again) to help GM meet Federal over all MPG average across all GM model lines.
Why do these CEO BUMS get the big bucks. All of a suden they can't get the cars from overseas imported soon. Heck they allready have done it. All of a sudden they don't know how to build a compact car. They have been sharing RND for years (so has Ford and Chrysler) with overseas MFGs and most cars built here are put together with componet parts shipped in from over seas..Why would bringing in a hole car be any tougher for them since they have already done it.

What's a "hole car" ??
Must be a "NEW FLASH"!

I guess what I am getting at is "those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it"....
I just can't stand it when history is repeated and then reported as "new" news
Sorry for the rant. JMO

Oh dear, I forgot to say that is a 2005 model and 38 is what the on board systems says. We paid $13000 for it too.
So the newer models are getting worse MPG then 2005?
Those MPG quotes from different sources are all different so I prefer my real world specks.
And I'm really sick of this "World Market" stuff. The World Market is eating us alive and we're just taking it.

The big boat are tied to the docks and only go out once a month at most. you can not find a small high mileage compact on any of the car lots. Lots of big SUV that aren't selling. The Big Three missed the boat back in the seventies with the first oil crisis and are now paying for with sales loss and catch up to the foreign manufactures with the high mileage vehicles.
The boats your talking about are not average Joe's tow boats or toys that I'm thinking of. I know there is a down turn now but we had the same down turn in the 70's, nothing, so far shows me this one will be any different.
I worked for GM in management and the auto industry has always been feast or famine and so has our economy.
I work in the auto industry and agree with this. The "big boats" are always tied up at the marina, regardless of the price of gas. If you can afford a $1,000,000+ yacht, fuel costs are not an issue.

Coors is still brewed with rocky mountain spring water but the corporate parent is South African but based in London along with Montreal based Molson Coors. The combined stock should be listed listed on the NYSE shortly.
Is Sam Adams beer still 100% American?

Still not bad. My gutless 1984 Chevy Chevette was rated at 30mpg highway using the older, more lenient mileage ratings.
