I liked the idea of the oversized ziplocks for storing pillows and bedding.

I saw a cool trick this spring. Place a bar of Ivory soap in a white knee high panty hoe. Tie the other end to the spigot handel so the soap stays off the ground. That way you can just grab foot of the panty hoe and wash your hands or get some lather for washing dishes. When you are done you can throw the whole thing in a zip lock bag or leave it for the next camper. The soap kind of dries out an hour or so after you use it. It stays clean and is always where you left it.

Also I am sure I the only person with a pop up that did not know that you can lock your door by just flipping the step up and locking the step in place. That way the door can not be opened. Of course a knife can open the camper quite easily, but it keeps someone from just walking up and opening the door.

Share a few of your tips and tricks with us.

Thanks

No need to buy and schelp bags of ice.

Make ice cube trays of your favorite regular drink and/or mixers for alcohol drinks. Make a few trays of them at home, pop the cubes in zip lock baggies for the camping trip. Cools your drink, but doesn't water them down.....and no more messy bags of ice all over that don't fit in a cooler or rv fridge.

For bloody mary mixes add some dill, hot sauce into the tomato juice before you freeze them, this eliminates bringing all the the extra bottles of stuff for them too. I haven't found any drink product that you couldn't freeze into cubes.

Have fun!
There is NO such thing as a bad camping trip.
There are only very good learning experiences.
Albeit some are the hard way.
Even in camping, attitude is 90%

BE SURE your kids KNOW your campsite loop/number before they go off to explore. In case they get turned around, they can tell a park ranger where you are!

Always have an ICE (In Case of Emergency) number in your cell phone in case someone needs to contact that person on your behalf.

Keep one flashlight at the picnic table and one near your pillow. (ever stumbled across the campsite because you were too busy admiring the glow of the fire to go get that flashlight?)

In the winter buy several boxes of fire place "Starter logs" and keep them for camping (you can't find them in the summer months). Use "Starter logs" to start your campfire. I won't do it any other way now!

Have more than 1 way to cook a potato. For example, over an open fire, or an electric skillet. Often times firewood is wet and doesn't burn right, or you're camping with no electricity, or you run out of propane at the worst time and the gas stove will not work. A secondary cooking (heat) source is absolutely a life-saver!

Here's my favorite trick/tip:

Take a large plastic jug (old milk jug or larger) and poke a small hole near the bottom. Put a golf tee in the hole. Fill with water and put the lid back on.

Set on the edge of the picnic table. When ready to wash hands (or rinse dishes), pull out the golf tee and loosen the lid. A small stream of water will come out.

We use this every time we camp. I took a sturdy Tide detergent bottle and rinsed it well and then rinsed it again and then rinsed with vinegar, etc. It is about 1.5 gallons--maybe almost two gallons. That's what we use on the picnic table. I tied a little bottle of soap to it but I really like that panty-hose with soap idea. I think I'll use that instead.
