I have a friend who just bought the F450 Diesel. He said it was very nice but a "diesel hog". Got 11 mpg empty. However, it is brand new. Of course, the mpg is hearsay.

I understand the F450 does not get great mileage, but I will need it to properly and safely tow a Carri Lite weighing 16,900lbs. I am not aware of other options. The F350 is borderline in capacity.
I am waiting for the dealer to call me back to see if I have a deal or not?

Take a look at the F350 with Tow Boss option. 430 rear gear same as the 450. The 350 will weigh about 1,000 lbs lighter than the 450.
You can get the 350 with the same turning radius as the 450.
The 350 with tow boss is just over 18,200 lbs. just 2,000 lbs difference with the 450. It just does not have those big breaks. It does not sit as high as the 450.
I like the 450.

I called the salesman this morning at 11:50am and I asked him to knock off more money. He said he had to talk to the General Manager and that he would get back to me in five minutes....he never called back. I called at 4:10pm and asked why he did not call....gave me some crazy story but said they could not lower the price any more.
I balled out the salesman for not calling and said that if he was busy he should have asked someone else to call me back. Bad customer service at Young Ford in Charlotte.

so here is the bottom line on the F450.
MSRP $54,365
Dealer Discount $4,918
Ford Cash Rebate $5,000
2001 Silverado Trade $8,000
Total $36,447
Then add taxes etc.
The dealer would not budge from the above....good/fair/bad deal, what do you think?
