I have a 1994 shasta class c with a bge series onan genset. It has been balky in starting - that has been corrected, but not there is no power moving through the starter circuit. There is power from the battery through the solenoid and out of the solenoid to the starter but no power through that circuit. The control board switch has no power through it and the remote starter switch inside the camper has no power through it. The voltage regulator has been replaced, but still no starting juice. Any ideas out there? The repair tech is a little more than overwhelmed by this. Thanks.
The 'Tech' should remove and test the starter. If it works on the bench, the problem could have been the starter mount bolts. They are steel and the housings they clamp together are aluminum. Over the years the dielectric currents between the two metals could have set up a high resistance path that prevents starter current from getting back to the battery. Clean the mating surfaces before installing the starter.
If the stater still won't work upon re-installation, then check for a high resistance in the solenoid or the cables feeding the starter and battery.
