My father and I are going to South Bend Indiana in September. We are going to be pulling the TT up there this year instead of getting a hotel. Anyone have any suggestions as to where to stay. Maybe someone that has stayed there before or lives close to there. Thanks in advance.

Brian

Look into Spaulding Lake RV. It's in between Niles and South Bend. Nice place and gets full.

There is a KOA in Granger which is about the closest, I believe. There is also Elkhart Campground which is about a mile off the toll road, which gives you very quick and easy access to SB in about 20 minutes for 50 cents (car).

Do you have to have full hook ups? Potato Creek State Park is about 20 minutes from South Bend and it's wonderful, huge sites. One of our favorite places to go.

If, either one of you is an Elk..then you can stay at the South Bend Elks' club..they have elect/water...we stayed with 14 motorhomes a few yrs back for the FSU game...Fri nite have a rest with excellent food and music and on game day a bus stops in front of the club to get a ride to the game.....Chuck

Would be nice to at least have electricity, and water. We can find a place to dump later. How do you become an Elk Member? Would it be worth becoming a member to stay at the place. I know nothing about the Elk's. Only thing I know is there is a lodge in the city I live in. Thanks for all the information.

We have stayed at the KOA in Grainger and Potatoe Creek SP. The KOA is alright. We generally go there once a year as it is close to home and we like to head out to Elkhart in Fall to check out campers. (never know when we will want to trade!) The SP is large and really nice. There is no water hookup (some sites you may be near water), but they do have electric. We went there last year and it was really nice!

All you have to do is go to the lodge and ask...always open to new members.....I've been one for a few yrs now, and use the lodges quite a bit in our travels.....quite a few have regular campgrounds the farther west you go or even in Fla...Chuck
