A squeaking noise is coming from under the travel trailer, it’s not the wheels ,, I think it’s coming from the leaf coils,,,, especially on a hot dry day when we hit bumps on the road…. Do I oil them ,,,,, what can I do ????

leafs and coils are two different things, but, squeaks are cured using the same method.

leafs are long, thin, and run front-to-rear(usually)

coils are coils of thick, round steel

a good soaking of penetrating oil of choice, on the places the spring mounts and all moving parts around, and on the spring itself. the oil will soak between the leaves if leaf springs as well as soak in to the pores of the spring steel coils and leaves are made of.

I had an old chevy nova that had a right front squeak-squeak that may have begun my loss of sanity. after replacing a-frame bushings and many other front end parts, the old guy next-door came over with a spray can of liquid stench, used it all on the coil itself, bouncing the car as he sprayed. after about 5 minutes, the squeak-squeak vanished, and never returned.

penetrating oil is good stuff. my B-I-L says WD40 eases arthritis pains too, but he is from the rural deep south.

when i worked in the truck shop we used a lot of WD-40 and got it on our hands a lot after being away from it a while you could notice the differance in your finger joints getting stiffer i believe it does work for the joints in your hands and fingers its not just a southern thing.
