I was lubin the bearings today and noticed that one of the cross suports for thr fresh tanks had broken a weld, after checking a little more the fresh tanks are loose. You can push up on them about 2" before they touch the bottum of the floor all the bolts are in place, and they don't look like they loosend up. Is it normal to have room above the tanks? The trailer is a WW 32 FSC.
Thanks J.

I've owned 2 WW and on both of them I used commercial steel purchased at an electrial supply warehouse to beef up the system. (I can't remember what it's called) The steel channel hangers that are used by WW and other toyhauler manufacturers are guaranteed to bend. These snap back strait after the water is emptied in the tanks.

My tank was held in with three 3/4" X 2" Box tubing supports with a 1/16" wall thickness. The first time I noticed that the tank was sagging, I knew I had to do something about it. I replaced the factory supports with four 1" X 3" box tubing supports with a wall thickness of 1/8 inch. No more sag now.

Thanks..... It is interesting metal that has memory. I straightened the existing bars and then placed Unistrut under them. Now when the water tanks are full, they bow downward to carry the load, but as the water is used, they go back to being strait and level. Great improvement.

Unistrut is one brand name for this u -shaped channel material.

Great multi-purpose steel strut -it is available at Home Depot and Lowes in the electrical section usually near or on the conduit rack. They also carry joining plates, angles and hanging clamps to fit the stuff, too.

Also, what is great is that all the holes are ready for the hangers. No drilling required..... just cut them to the length of your existing bars and then install. Easy mod

Thanks for the tips for the metal straps/mounts, but what I noticed is when the tanks are empty they move around alot. I can push them up about 2", all the mounts look ok. Should their be that much room above them? Should they be tight against the floor of the trailer?
Thanks J.

I'll have to check mine again but, I remember being under the trailer at one time and noticing the same thing. . . the tanks seemed to move when empty. I wouldn't worry about it too much as long as you don't see the sag being mentioned.

Unistrut is great stuff. It is getting more and more expensive with rising steel prices though. . . Ouch!

I'd be careful about adding too much support after the mfg's. The water tank needs room to expand while filling. Yes, it should have an air vent, but they still tend to expand somewhat.

My buddy cracked the floor in his trailer, put a nice size hole in it, because the tank expanded upwards against the floor, not down where there was room for it to expand.
