I love these "possession is 99% of the law" statements. That is the most wrong answer on record, as possession means absolutely nothing. The paperwork trail is all that counts. You buy a vehicle from anybody that did not have the right to sell it and you can loose both your money and your vehicle. I have watched the repossession, in a LEO capacity, of such sales from individuals who bought from dealers that did not pay off the vehicle prior to the sale. You are probably OK but watch the ensuing legal proceedings of the dealer very carefully and be prepared to hire your own lawyer if necessary.

Step 1: Engage an attorney to represent your interest in this.

Step 2: Believe what he tells you. You're paying him to represent you, so let him.

Had the same problem many years ago with a travel trailer we bought.
In California where we live the Dealers have to post a bond to cover this situation. We went to our DMV office and explained the problem and they handled everything.

Nothing personal about postings you received on your problem.

But, you need a lawyer, now! I would of thought your lender would of been jumping up and down by now for the title.???
Wish you luck.

Hey Steve, it's John from Port Orchard, hope you and the DW are safe and well up there in sunshine city! I would give Attorney General Rob McKenna a call tomorrow, and see what he can do for you! It's his job to protect you and your interests in situations like this. He helped me in a situation very similar in the past. I also know the dealership your talking about I go by there place when I go home (My original home is Port Angeles). The DW and I just got back from a jet boat trip in Southern Oregon and during our travels down south and back we saw TT at least 5 to 1 compared to motorhomes. Especially those that have the rear fold down door most of the youngsters are buying them. Good Luck, John

Three pieces of advice

1: Keep all paper work, Get everything on paper, keep originals and keep copies, keep copies somewhere other than where you keep originals (IE: Originals-bank strong box, copies home and job site)

2: Legal advice you receive on the internet for 1 which is just plain good sense and 3) is worth what you pay for it

3: Seek professional advice

You may, or may not, have a problem, I very simply do not know. I know a few things about the dealer's responsibility but I do not know if they can come back on your.

You need a professional who knows the laws IN YOUR STATE

Steve, I was telling the DW about your story and she thinks that you should call Jesse and inform him of your situation. He's that Channel 5 (NBC KING 5 TV Seattle, WA.) Western Washington State consumer guy! Keep us posted on how this gets settled. John

IF you have License plates and registration for your RV, the odds are you have nothing to worry about. If you have these, that means the MSO was turned to apply for the title. Do you have registration? You can also check with your Registration agency to determine if the MSO was turned for a title. If so, you have no problem. Doug

Steve, We know of that RV dealership. It was on the 101 by the Rainbow's end RV park. My father bought a Itasca there and while he was in the hospital in Seattle, all the RVs were pulled off the lot. He told me that dealer went out of business. Luckily, my dad had his coach and it was licensed before that happened. Good luck on your end.
