I just got the Blue Ox Coiled Electrical Cord and 6 pin connector set. I'm not real excited by the way the cable is latched into the connectors just by the plastic connector cover, I expected a more positive latching mechanism.
If you use this set up have you had problems with the cable unplugging during use? Do you use a strap or anything to make it more secure?

I've got the blue coiled cable from Blue Ox, but all the connectors are metal, including the spring held cover latch. BTW, with this setup I've never had an unhooking problem that wasn't my fault.

We have used a coiled interconnect cable for well over 100,000 towing miles, and have never had a problem with either the metal or the plastic connector locks failing.
IMHO, there is no need for any additional straps, etc.

Mine came with metal connectors on the cable, but the fixed connectors are plastic.
Thank you both for sharing your experience.

The connector end on the car came with the locking tab on the cover that holds it in. On the MH end, the installer got the cheapest 7-pin to 6-pin adapter he could find and after about the 4th trip, cable came out and drug on pavement for a ways. Needless to say, I bought a new cable and went to wal-mart and bought a 7-pin to 6-pin adapter with the locking cover and works fine. No more disconnects.
Adapters are available at wal-mart and probably a lot of other sources.

Do any of you cover the 4 pin coming from the toad when unhooked?
Seems to me that is going to rust in a heartbeat.
I've looked at wallmart for some type of cap for it and didn't find any. I was thinking of buying a trailer connector wire set and cutting the wires and just slipping it over it as a cover.
They put my wires into a black hard plastic cover, only thing is its so long it drags on the ground.
