We've got a 2007 Fleetwood Williamsburg. We like the trailer, but over the last few weeks, I have noticed the roof is starting to "yellow" slightly except for a stripe running down the side. Should I be concerned? Do you have any ideas?

Yes, you should be concerned. If this is the caulking is is about ready to crack and leak. My son has a fleetwood and the caulking on the roof turned brown, shrunk and cracked. His roof now leaks.

You are refering to the actual hard roof turning yellow, right? You might be able to polish it back to white, and keep a good quality wax on it to prevent yellowing. I don't think there are any seams to caulk anymore, Fleetwood has the seamless Filon roof now.

It's the actual roof that is turning yellow. Would something like this be covered under warranty? I think a polish may help, but with a 12 foot roof, that's a lot of surface area. Plus the trailer isn't a year old. Grr....
I did check the caulking and it seems to be all good, though.

Your roof shoudn't be yellowing on a new unit. It appears there may be something wrong with the Filon and it may be prematurely reacting to UV light or has some sort of contamination. Did you apply anything (wax, polish, cleaner, etc.) that may have reacted with the roof? The strip that hasn't yellowed is puzzling and makes me think it is a bad batch of Filon. I dought you will be able to remove the yellowing and wouldn't try at this point. Check with your dealer before you do anything else so you don't risk voiding the warranty. More than likely the dealer will order a new roof.

Don,

I feel there is something wrong with the roof, too. I haven't applied ANYTHING to the roof at all, which makes me think some delamination or something is happening with the roof. I'll bring it in after we take it out for two weeks vacation. How long is the warranty on the roof? Five years, I think. It's less than a year old, so it should still be under the bumper to bumper warranty, too.

Yes, it's a 5 year warranty on the roof but you want to make sure it is taken care of in the first year while Fleetwood will still pay for the freight. After the first year you are responsible for paying the freight which can be around $800 or even more. I would get it to the dealer before you leave to get it into the system and ordered. You can still use your pup afterwards while the new roof is being shipped.
