Going to Yosemite Aug 1, arrive 3rd, stay 1 week
Plans are
I-10 west to Blythe, CA
US-95 north to Needles, CA
I-40 west to Barstow, CA
CA-58 west to Bakersfield
CA-99 north to Modesto
CA-120 east to Groveland (Yosemite Pines CG, west of)

CG says CA-49 is not RV friendly. Anyone know why? steep, curves

Would like info on alt routes such as Ca-395 or even NV-95 out of Vegas (Both would go west through park)

Just prefer going different routes to see the sites.

Thanks for the info, cant wait to head out

I would go from Bakersfield north on 99 to Fresno then 41 to the park.

395 to 120 and over the high country then back out of the park to Yosemite Pines is a pretty ride. You can overnight around Lone Pine. While there is a climb on 120 heading west into the park, it is way better than Priest grade on 120 heading into Groveland.

Marv has the shortest and prettiest route. East side of the Sierras is gorgeous and traffic is light and MUCH cooler than the San Joaquin Valley.

I would probably take AZ 95 north and cut over to CA 95 at Parker. The south part of CA 95 is pretty twisty.

Definitely take US395 north from CA58 to Lee Vining, then take CA120 west to Yosemite and the valley. Tioga Rd (CA120) is beautiful even though it is a climb but it is a good wide road. We have traveled over Tiogo Road many times and will be doing it again in Sept with our 30' 5th wheel. The East side of the Sierra are gorgeous especially around the Lone Pine, Bishop and Mammoth Mountain areas. Enjoy your trip.
