Thats right the rear radiators do get some puke oil on them, I forgot about that artical as mine is a side radiator.
But I did this 5 years ago to keep the spray off of my trailer.

Not sure your SS hose is high pressure enough for this application. How often do you drain and how much oil do you get out? By far the faniciest slobber tube extension I have ever seen.

The S/S hose has a burst pressure of 3000 lbs.
There is no or there should be no meaningful pressue coming from the vent.
I drain it about every 1000 miles depending on how of hard of a pull I had on the trip. I tow a 10Klb race trailer, but the most I've drained is an ounce or two.
This system works real well and no more spots on my trailer.
I believe I did the mod in 03.
My guess is anyone can install this for under $100.00.

Slobber tube, well what do you know. The year after my rig was built, '04, Freightliner extended the tube as it was clogging the radiator. I just went and looked, 1/2 of the radiator, is packed with oil and debris. I'll bet this is the issue.

Steam clean would work the best seems to me. You could spray some Purple Power degreaser and let it sit for a few minutes. I've cleaned some unbelievable crud off old bike engines. JMHO

Ken,
You have found your problem. You will probably find your engine will have a little more power also. Your intercooler is there too. A plugged intercooler will heat the air into the engine. When I bought my GS used it would overheat on long hills. I used a garden sprayer with a real strong Spic and Span solution and soaked radiator and intercooler thoroughly from both front side and back side. I then used a 1500 psi electric pressure washer from both sides. I was shocked how much crud came out of there. I waited until it dried with the engine running and did it two more times. I would let the Spic and Span soak for 30 minutes before I washed.

Ken use the cleaners posted and let it soak awhile. Then you can wash it all out. If you use a pressure washer do not get to close to the radiator. You can blow the fins apart.Just let the water flow through the fins,light pressure is ok. Just be careful when you clean.

Ok, ya'll (is that how you say it?) are making me smart. I used simple green, hours of water....light power wash and managed to remove a ton of crud. Took her out for test ride, and pusher her hard. Reduced temp, improved power...happy me! Still have some crud so am gonna see about a steam cleaning.....thanks to you all.
Now someone mentioned the intercooler. Where is that so that I may ensure it is cleaned as well?

That the way Ken. Sometimes the intercooler is built into the radiator and sometimes it is a smaller one mounted in front.Glad to hear that things are going better. As I told you most of my overheat calls were caused by clogged raidiator.So you owe me a BEER.
