I recently purchased a Holiday Rambler Endeaver LE diesel pusher. I want to tow a trailer with electric brakes. There is already a plug in wired into the motorhome wiring by the bumper hitch receiver. It is a rectrangle 6 pole plugin. My question is if anyone knows if this is a standard plugin factory installed and if it might be wired to handle electric brakes on what ever is towed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most coaches come with the std trailer plug on the hitch but do you have a controller installed? It would probably mount under your dash. Your coach may be prewired to accept a controller. If you don't have a controller, Prodigy is a good brand and can be bought on-line or at an RV parts/dealer.

Thanks Fred. Would I be so lucky to find a plug into the wiring harness for the Prodigy to activate the brake controller pins on the rear plug in? That sure would make installation a breeze. Please advise.

Seven pin round is usually wired for brake controller, six pin configurations usually do not. But the previous owner could have done just about anything, especially if he towed a vehicle.
If it is original equipment, the H-R manual should say what pins do what. If not, get a multimeter and a 12V test light, see if you can find out which pin is ground (very low resistance to chassis ground). Then use the meter or light to figure out, pin by pin, what actions in the motorhome send power to which pin.

My 1999 HR Endeavor has a factory installed 6 pin rectangular plug. It does NOT have wiring for brakes. There is NO wiring installed in my coach to have electric trailer brakes. I will need to install a controller AND heavy gauge wiring if I want to pull a trailer with trailer brakes. Your coach is pre Monaco while my coach is post Monaco, so yours MAY be different. But I doubt it.

I just had this little problem. Our 86 Beaver has a 6 pin and a 4 pin wired from the factory. We bought a 24' Haulmark enclosed trailer with a 7 pin connector. I bought a 7 pin to 4 pin adaptor(any RV place has them). The 4 pin gives you lights, signals, and brake lights. I bought and installed a prodigy and wired it to power, brakes, and ground. I had to run a length of 12 guage blue wire from the prodigy back to the rear of the coach and crimp it onto the blue wire on the adaptor. The blue wire gives me trailer brakes. The only thing I have to do is charge the breakaway battery once in a while. Or you could have an RV place wire up a 7 pin for you. The worst part of that is paying some kid to run the blue wire.

Thanks yet again guys. I am probably going to replace the rectangle connection with a round, install a prodigy and wire it into the round plug so I have active brakes on the trailer. Thanks for all the advice.
