We're heading up to Sauble Falls PP next week and instead of worrying about what we can or cannot bring, we're just going to do our grocery shopping in Oh Canada. We will be crossing at the Blue Water Bridge -- where would you stop? I'm hoping for an all-in-one store where I have a deli, produce, meat counter yada yada yada.
Thanks in Advance(:

I live near Sauble........IF AT ALL POSSIBLE buy your goods somewhere around Sarnia or a BIG city store.........the prices up here are atrocious...its only a 3-4 hour ride from the border to here, if your fridge/coolers are cold there shouldnt be a problem......I will drop by for an imported beer later.....:}

Your looking for a Walmart Super Store or a Loblaws or a Dominion. Another big box store now in Ontario is The Great Canadian SuperStore. Any of these stores will give you waht you need.

Are any of these 3 in Sarnia? Are any of them 24hrs? If all goes as planned we'll be crossing the bridge around 6am.
OK nevermind -- answered my own question by going to walmart.ca! Just in case anyone cared, they have a supercenter there that opens at 6am.

The Walmart Super center is the best place. Walmart Canada just started to convert some stores to "Super Center" format.

Thanks BarryD-
I've never grocery shopped in one before so I feel a bit better now.

The Walmart Super Centre in Sarnia is terrific. Not sure it's open at this time of year at 6:00 am but I know at 7 am it is. A really nice selection of everything. Would recommend it.

Although the prices might be a bit higher at Sauble Beach, there is a decent size grocery store called Value Mart (if I remember correctly). You can replenish anything you run out of or forgot at W.M. It is located on the main drag, left hand side as you are heading towards the water. Wish I was at the beach now - Sauble is my favorite.

There is a Valu Mart in Sauble Beach. However I recommend stopping at either the IGA in Forest (easy parking behind store, Tim Hortons across the road) or the Sobey's in Kincardine (easy parking, Tims close by also). Both these stores are on the way on highway 21. I don't recommend the Independent in Port Elgin ( I live here and find it pricey)

Thanks willym.......Business folk have to make a profit and live as we do, I do not begrudge that...I would not be so vocal regarding the prices up here if I hadnt seen the end result of profit margin revenues being generated at some of the businesses here..... we drive to the city on several occasions to buy in bulk rather than at the local stores....dont mind spending..dont like being pilfered..
