Took a week off from work and life to take the family to one of our favorite places to ride, Morrow County Oregon. A good friend and his family joined us for the week. Nothing but ATV riding, camping, fishing, sleeping and eating! No cell phones and the campground was pretty much all ours. We explored a bunch of Forest Service trails, saw a bunch of wild life including a Doe and Fawn as well as a couple nice looking bucks.

Had a couple minor issues too, I managed to some how sheer two bolts off the suspension on my ATV leaving me dragging the A arm. Thankfully the Polaris dealership in Lexington, OR - Morrow County Grain Growers had all the parts (whew!) and the service guy Will went the extra mile and stayed a bit after work to finish the repair. It lightened my wallet by some $300 but we were able to ride the rest of the week. Then the kill switch on my wife's 500 died, but we managed to fix it temporarily.

The dust was very mellow for our trip too, in past years the July dust was bad - this time it was still around, but better then in past years - that late Spring thaw sure helped. Still the area was under a fire warning, no campfires allowed But I picked up one of those LP Campfires in can, not a bad deal when you can't have the real thing - sure saved the evening Smores and time around the campfire with friends.

We decided to keep our trips closer to home this year, gas costs and all but I think we're going to head down to Utah next summer again.

Somewhere along the line our Golden decided riding the ATV was fun!

No power, made it the week with batteries and running the generator for about 4 hours.

Dang they grow up to fast, our youngest Sean on his new ATV.

My oldest Scott after about a 26 mile loop

Every night we had a treat watching the moon, it was so bright we couldn't really get the best view of the stars on this trip.

Forced Family Fun... They'll thank you later for it!

I see you went to the new ATV park out of Heppner huh? morrow county has some of the best parks for camping in Eastern Oregon. Have been to quite a few of them myself. I like Eastern Oregon very much, lots of good camping spots with not a lot of people to keep you awake all night.

Hey old guy - yep we've been going to the OHV park since 2005, nice park and they've recently added more land and hope more to come too. They were adding a whole new camping loop for the big Toy Hauler rigs too, not sure when its due to open though.

It was nice and quiet all week, come Friday night though we had a few pull in about 10:30 that decided it was time to wake up the neighborhood.

Sounds like you had a great time even with the few minor ATV maintenance bugs. It is so nice riding all day and not having to travel home. Wash the quads and fire up the BBQ and break out the cold drinks. We can't wait for our next trip. No Cell phones or work. Imagine that.

Hey - The moon was full up there too? Small world.

Looks like a great trip. Glad you were able to get the ATV fixed without much delay.

Did you take your injured dog with you too? How's he/she doing?

YNot - the Frozen Mikes Hard Lemonade flowed freely after the long rides, well once it defrosted enough

derud - you are welcome to come up anytime! The dirt bikes and Rhino all have places to ride.

Dave - we did take Scout with us. The Vet figured he could rehab at home or on the trip the same. He's up walking, mostly on 3 legs but putting pressure on the 4th when he walks slow. He must have had a good time because he was totally filthy - but he was happy.
