You're alway invited Wacky

Serena - been there done that on the boat thing. There's nothing like having your boat up on the hard sanding the hull so you can give it a fresh coat of paint. Boats are meant to be in the water, so you have to carry water up, go to the public to do your business and climb a 20' ladder to get on and off -
Wayward Wind
and there's also nothing like being in the middle of the gulf or ocean with nothing but water in every direction. The silence is profound. It's one of the most memorable of our memories.

I'm maybe a mile from the beach, if it makes more sense to you that way, Trip. Down here, when the snowbirds go home it's like ghost towns. I like it better that way. More hookups, less people. In town, but not. About as little or as much solitude as I please. I like people. Just don't need 'em in my face 24/7. Or even 1/7. Got a MH and no toad (shopping for one now). I don't need to be way out in the boonies where a simple grocery run is a life-altering event, lol. Just trying to decide what to do for the winter, that's all.

Amazing to me is the number of people who own MH's and store them around here most of the year. They just fly in and out or drive their cars here and hardly use the MH's at all. Then they stick 'em in a CG and don't drive them anyway. That's just...beyond me. I see the point of not wanting to store up north, since you have to winterize and all. I see the savings in flying or driving a car. I just don't see the point of letting the MH sit virtually unattended or maintained, or why you'd want a Class A if you aren't really going anywhere in it when there are much less expensive and complicated park models all over the place. I asked a couple of permanents here, but they don't get it, either. Maybe that's park of the 'mystique'? Some people just like the idea of it much more than the fact of it - enough to sink many thousands into the things, anyway. I looked at the storage lot. They are not high-end rigs, in general. So these are not wealthy people with just oodles of cash to burn. They must be getting something out of it they really, really want or I suppose they wouldn't do it.

Where is down here? unless it's a state secret in which case you can tell me the kill me...lol

I assume your in the PRK??? ( Peoples Republik of Kalfornia)or Baja?..as for parking a MH and flying in to sleep in it, the world is full of fools, rich fools, poor fools...I'm sure a lot of ppl think I'm crazy too but...oh well...

About Baja, I can't believe people would go there these days, no protection, no way out of a bad spot, the state dept for sure is as useless as boobs on a boar hawg.

I'm too paranoid to ever do it...

Been a good thread following a grt post...!

YO Bolson !!! May there be a road!

Tripwire, I returned in April of this year from Baja, there are several rv parks there with security, right on the beach. For 5 dollars a week, you hire a guy to watch your stuff, and believe me, nobody will mess with that guy. Do not be scared of Baja, the highway goes straight thru and nobody will bother you. Those people make their living off us gringos and they love our dollars.

Very successfully, even though Diane nearly had you in a choke hold!

John - I have located a way to make impromptu temporary lit signs for just couple of bucks. I mean, we're talking about the ability to put regular tacky lights to absolute shame, should the need arise. Combined with Uppity and Persnickety, even the dark of night cannot cloak your mojo. PM when you get ready to go back to Malabar. Oh - and the answer for asphalt surfaces is just a couple of potted silk ferns or small banana palms. Quite the decorator touch, no?

Off to Ace Hardware for (hopefully) parts to another little doo-dad I'm making.

That would work but then I have to figure out how to cart the ferns or palms around My solution was a 2x6. I drilled a couple holes to put their feet down into and then the whole thing rides in a crate with the tire covers when we're on the road. The kids don't like being shup up in the basement, but we all have to do what we have to do

We'll be back mid-Sept and I'll try to remember to give you a pm once we're back.

Please do! (And have look at Enchanted Village, if you haven't already. Not on the beach, but a very nice little park.)

Not hard to haul them. The plants stay in the living room when not gracing your entry. I used to use silk plants for camo junk drawers in the stick house (not practical here, of course). I still keep a silk fern in my work baskets when I'm not using them for something else. (There are million housekeeping sins and extension cord spaghetti that can be blotted from your memory with a simple silk plant...) Tricks learned from that gay decorator guy on PBS.

I've been letting Luci and Desi ride shotgun with their tree, so they are always ready for some action in case of emergency. Loyal compadres, those two. Never bark when I'm gone, never pooh on the floor, never jump on the wrong people. They only need about a 12" circle to ride high, so if they weren't up front, I'd prolly...wedge 'em behind a captain's chair or something? Just trying to keep my priorities straight, lol.
