During transit, is it a no-no to have dogs in the trailer w/ open windows and fans blowing, water bowls etc.? We're considering it and while it may be controversial, I don't see the harm in it. They can have a queen bed and good airflow.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

You take a ride back in the trailer and decide than how your dog will like it.

Watch the Long Long Trailer and see how it rides.

Wife and kids rode in our TT once when we had to relocate in a CG just a short distance. When I opened the TT door. All were laying on the floor.

Have you ever been inside a trailer while it was moving? I did it once at a very slow speed and short distance just to see what it was like. It is very bouncy and the movement inside at a slow speed, like 5 miles per hour, had me about ready to throw up. No living thing should be in a trailer while moving.

I think it would depend where the dog crates were placed in the RV to determan the type of ride the pet will get. But for sure it is not in the back of the trailer.
We have only one dog and he travels up front with us, he's part of the pack so he has to ride with us.

I am just wondering if the sway factor is different with a TT vx a fifth wheel? Isn't there hardly any in the Fiver?

Don pulled away from the fuel pumps (to park in the lot so we could have lunch) with me and the pets inside the 5ver - believe me, it was not at all comfortable and that was only about 100 yds!! And it was also very noisy. I would never recommend doing that. And if you are ever in an accident, those things fold up like a cardboard box!! I've seen it happen.

Besides the other very good reasons stated above, your tow vehicle exhaust also will enter your trailer, and just a tiny bit of continuous carbon monoxide fumes can be deadly because of the cumulative effect. Carbon monoxide clings to the blood like glue, and it takes the body a LONG time to rid itself of CO. So even a tiny bit can be deadly, because it just keeps accumulating, and the CO prevents the blood from absorbing oxygen. Personal opinion: I would never let a human or animal that I loved ride in a travel trailer. Try it yourself. You won't like it.

One other thing. It can get very hot in summer or cold in the winter in a TT/5r. with no heat or A/C.

I know of no state where there is a law against it. Doesn't seem like a good idea to me but legal everywhere.

Check the laws for tow vehicles. They vary from state to state.
Some RV'ers do it and some don't. There was a thread on petstop discussing the pros and cons and how some do it to keep the pets safe.

If you choose to or have no alternative....
It's 'how' you do it. AND how 'safely' the pets are confined in it.

IMHO if a pet owner is at the beginning stage of buying their TV and TT is seems to me a better route to buy a TV that accomodates both pet, people and kids.

Albeit I do have some friends that would love to be able to stick their kids back in the TT while on a long vacation for some peace and quiet in the TV!!
