We have never camp at Rondeau. But have hiked at the park. Lots of birds and wildlife. It is a long way to anything outside of park. We spent most of our time at Erieau. It is across the bay were channel enters into Lake Erie.
We camped there a couple years ago in the southern section of the park, sites were nice, the northern section seem more wooded, but from what I seen the sites were a little rougher as well, the part where we were was more grassy, I beleave we were on site #36, was a nice size, fairly leval, a couple shade trees on the south side of it, water tap close by.

We were at Rondeau on the May 24 holiday this year and twice last year.
We enjoyed the park at all those times. It is a little tight and close to the neighbours on some sites. We have pics if you want and a list of better sites.
My in-laws were there a week or so ago, they have been a half dozen times but were very unhappy with their stay. It was apparently quite noisy, with underage drinking etc. To the point that he wrote a letter of complaint to the Park and vows to never go again!

was the problems from park patrons or from one of the private cottages that are within the park boundry? when we were there we noticed that these had unrestricted easy access to the campground, and I figured that that was an invitation for trouble. Had a liitle issue at Port burwell last year as there are homes/cottages along the east boundry of the park and one particular s*** head decided to put his huge speakers out in his front yard (facing the campground) and have a little party in the middle of the day (10 am till about 2pm then 7pm till the cops shut him down at 9pm) he had it cranked so loud that you could hear it thoughout most of the campground, I asked at the front gate and they said there is nothing they could do about it, just some punk kid and friends being annoying while mom and dad are away. it would be nice if the park rangers could police anything bordering the park that affects the park like that as well.
I am not sure, could be either or both ! I know he is not very happy with the place now.
We had the same problem as you at Burwell too. You are right, you would thing the park Sup't would be able to work with the OPP and solve the noise issues at the cottages.
We had similar noise problems last weekend. There was a group of kids from Michigan taking advantage of the younger drinking age in Ontario. The rangers did keep an eye on them, but there was some 'commotion' in the night. I suspect that if we'd called the rangers they'd have dealt with it promptly, but for some reason we didn't. Much to our relief, they were given 30 minutes to vacate the site on Saturday morning. Saturday night was wonderful.
Aside from the noise, the campsite was pretty good. We were in the southern end which is fairly open and the sites are fairly close together but all our neighbours had young kids like us and we did a fair bit of chatting, which was nice. The beach seems to run for miles and is very shallow so good for kids. The comfort stations were all pretty modern and seemed well cared for. Our campsite was 304 which is on the outside of the campsite and there was some light pollution from the few streetlights on the cottage roads, but no real traffic noise.
Overall, we'd go again but probably not on a weekend and we'd keep the ranger's phone number on hand.
